This week's journey involves two legs, but to start the first leg, I headed over to Terminal 1 by using the CDGVAL Terminal Shuttle. It's free and serves Terminals 1, 2 and 3.

It drops you off at the entrance and you simply walk in and take an elevator or lift to the check-in areas.

We're aboard the 11:15 departure over to Frankfurt, in Business Class.

You can use the automated kiosks if you've checked-in online or, if you prefer…

…you can check-in at the nominated Lufthansa Group check-in desks.

Here's my two Boarding Passes ready to fly back to Heathrow, albeit via Frankfurt. You can watch the video above where I explain my reasoning (trust me, this worked out far far cheaper than flying direct!).

I then headed over to the Lufthansa Business Class lounge and encountered what felt like the world's longest moving walkway!

Your business class ticket gains you access to CDG's Accès No.1 priority security lane. This was an experience to say the least. I was told to leave everything in my bag only for it to then be unpacked and scanned separately as I was told everything should have been taken out.

The Lufthansa Lounge (both Senator and Business) at CDG's Terminal 1 is located in the basement level of Satellite 6 (Gates 60-68).

The entrance was rather uninspiring but I think it's just because it's in the basement with no natural light.

There was plenty of seating space and the lounge wasn't overly busy.

There was lots on offer from fruit juices, beers, wine and champagne.

There were a variety of yoghurts available.

A selection of smoked salmon, cheeses, meats, pate and more.

There was a wide selection of pastries and breads, all were excellent quality.

In true German fashion, I opted for the salted pretzel and a small plate of cheese and pate.

Followed by a natural yoghurt topped with strawberry jam.

It was then time for me to head to Gate 65 in order to board leg 1 of 2 across to Frankfurt.

And flying us there was this Airbus A321-100 which was delivered to Lufthansa in December 1995. I was a little over 1 year old when this airframe was delivered!

And here's my seat 3A, the last row in the business class cabin in front of the divider curtain.

Just two rows of business class on today's flight. LH operate a hybrid model allowing them to move the curtain forward or backwards depending on the load. I actually had the entirety of Row 3 to myself!

As we taxied about to take-off, I caught a glimpse of Condor's blue stripey plane. I fall into the "I love it" pool but I know this livery divides opinion.

And off we go!

And no sooner had we levelled off, was lunch served. I was expecting something like a sandwich so was very surprised when I saw what arrived on my tray table.

The starter was an orecchiette pasta salad with green asparagus, tomatoes, emmental, olives, walnuts and pine nuts. It was divine.

This was served with a white bread roll and cultured butter.

Dessert was this cheesecake with mango and passionfruit coulis inside, and a bourbon vanilla sauce. This was great and topped with a Lufthansa branded chocolate.

My choice of drink was the Avionic Ziegler tonic. A beautiful concotion of peach, citrus, sour cherry and wild meadow herbs. It was lovely.

To round off the experience, a Crispy Dark praline from chocolatier, Rizzati Ferrara.

This aircraft is named after the German city of Kaiserslautern.

The forward toilet was exclusively for the use of Business Class passengers and was very clean.

We then stated our descent and as we did…

…I caught ANOTHER Condor striped plane on approach to the alternate runway at Frankfurt. We had a race. The black edition features the Eintracht Frankfurt badge on the tail, too!

It was a bit of a miserable approach into Frankfurt.

But we arrived on-time, thanks for reading and watching, and leg 2 of 2 follows on from this review!
