Today, I'm hopping back to Heathrow with Aegean Airlines in business class, but it didn't start off as a business class ticket…

I booked a ticket via Aegean's website in Economy and opted into a €135 PlusGrade upgrade offer.

And much to my surprise… It was accepted! Even though it was categorised as "low" on the site. Just goes to show that being cheeky sometimes pays off!

Athens airport is quite relaxing to be fair. I didn't encounter any issues navigating around the terminal.

Aegean and the wider Star Alliance check in desks are located to the left in Zone A.

And the PlusGrade upgrade gives you all the perks of a regular Business Class ticket (accept points/miles accrual).

The Aegean flagship lounge is located on Level 3.

And I really love the facade. It's bright, airy, and really well designed.

These blue shiny panels really elevate the lounge and give it a Premium feel. Aegean are certainly proud of their heritage and brand.

There's an array of newspapers and magazines on offer, all complimentary of course.

Not to mention, great apron views to boot!

I took time out for lunch in the dining area which I had all to myself. I couldn't believe how quiet this lounge was.

I tried the automated Greek coffee machine. It was divine!

I also had a can of sparkling mint/spearmint water and a freshly-squeezed orange juice.

I opted for the pulled beef cheek minestrone soup (this was delicious).

And sampled some stellar feta cheese and a black olive roll with feta, tomato and pesto.

Dessert came in the form of fresh wholewheat bread with Greek honey, a chocolate tiffin cake with cranberries and fresh Greek yoghurt with strawberries, honey and pistachios.

And after rolling out the lounge, it was time to board our aircraft. I was aboard this Airbus A321neo back to Heathrow today.

My boarding pass placed me into Group 2 but as their were no Group 1 passengers, I was the first to board the aircraft.

I'm in 3F today, and Aegean configure their business class similar to other European carriers in a 3/3 layout with the middle seat blocked by a cocktail table.

As you can see, space was ample!

I was given a "welcome sweet"…

…and a welcome drink! Champagne was also on offer, too.

After that, we pushed back and climbed out of Athens.

Great views today!

Sitting behind me to the left was the Greek-Australian ex-Tottenham Hotspur, Celtic and Nottingham Forest manager, Ange Postecoglou. What a nice guy!

The service began with a scented hot towel.

The starter was a smoked tomato taramasalata with fresh pide, sundried cherry tomatoes and parsley.

The main course was a stuffed eggplant with minced chicken meat, bechamel sauce and Metsovone smoked cheese.

Cheese followed with a selection of Manouri and "Steiakakis" Graviera cheeses.

A white bread roll was served warm.

Alongside a bottle of extra virgin olive oil and a glass jar of black olive tapenade from brand, Navarino Icons.

And yes, metal cutlery and a tablecloth were all in play today!

Finally, dessert followed separately which was a Semolina Halva. Delicious!

I then opted for a tea, with milk.

Which was shortly followed by a milk chocolate in the Aegean branding.

I then fell into a food coma, and managed to snag an hour or so of sleep in Aegean's very comfortable seat.

And I woke up to great views!

One quick check on the toilets which were very clean. It would just have been nice to see Aegean replace this soap with the premium Greek soap that was available in the lounge.

And before we knew it, the flight had come to an end and we approached London-Heathrow.

I hope you enjoyed and thanks, as always, for reading/watching. Stay safe and see you next week!
Hello James Warren
A great experience with Aegean's Business class, among the best business products in Europe
The catering at the lounge looks very tasty, as well as the onboard service
Thank you for sharing
Thanks MisterA320. Absolutely, a stellar performance from Aegean on all fronts. Thank you for reading and watching ☺️
It's nice to see that not all European carriers opt for uncomfortable plain seats!
Even if this one still suffers from economy-seat-with-blocked-middle-business 😅
Thanks for a nice trip report! Would be interesting if you put the (estimated) passenger loads in your report :-)
Great shout this! Will try to cover in the future. This flight was 100% full though in both economy and business.
