Good Morning from Madrid Airport T2.
Today, I will be flying on Air Europas 787-8 back home to ZRH.
Check In
Air Europa uses T2 at Madrid, which is really old and not really in good condition.
Check In took its time due to the staff not really working that fast.
But once I had my boarding pass, I was off to the security.
Lounge
Due to SkyTeam Elite+, I was able to get into Air Europa's lounge. However, even though it is the carriers hub, they do not own their own lounge and use a third party lounge instead.
The lounge itself was okay but nothing to write home about.
Boarding until Takeoff
Boarding began 10min early so when I arrived from the lounge it had already started. In the cabin, then the welcome drink was served. Only orange juice was available.
The cabin itself was disappointing. I expected a full business class setuo with lieflat seats on a 787 but that was not the case. The seats were old but comfy. For an intra european flight, that is completely fine but the aircraft I was on arrived from brazil and if I had been a J-Passenger from Brazil to Madrid in this cabin, I would've felt scammed.
The IFE was terrible with only very limited movies and not even offering a mini map.
Catering
While the cabin was rather disappointing, I did appreciate the catering, which was okay but I've had better too. After the service the crew hid behind the curtains and didn't appear anymore for the remainder of the flight.
Landing
We were on track to arrive in ZRH earlier than planned but due to a go around we arrived 5mins late at the D Gates. When deboarding, police was waiting in the terminal and checked everyones passport before allowing them to enter the terminal, it appears that they were searching for someone
Thanks for the interesting report. I can imagine your disappointment with that sea. It looks like you ended up on one of the birds that previously flew with Norse.
