INTRODUCTION
Hi everyone
After spending Easter in Rome I decided to visit my family again in late May
Having some duties to do in my hometown I planned to stay there until Monday evening
At first I decided to leave on Friday 22nd May, but the plane was definitely too expensive
Therefore, my choice was to get an afternoon flight on Saturday
The whole solution costed me 116 euros

ROUTING
ITA Airways - Milan Linate LIN > Rome Fiumicino FCO - Airbus A220-300
ITA Airways - Rome Fiumicino FCO > Milan Linate LIN - Airbus A319

Some stats:
12nd flight of 2026 (as of June)
Overall great-circle distance flown in 2026 (as of the reported flight): 9.540 km|5.151 nm
12nd time on FCO-LIN route
THE FLIGHT
The day before the flight I checked-in
Unfortunately I was assigned a central seat
I'd have tried to change it at the airport

With the flight departing at 20:00 I asked my parents to bring me at the airport at 18:30
We decided to leave earlier than usual because being Monday afternoon I wasn't sure about the trafic
At 18:35 they dropped me off at Rome-Fiumicino "Leonardo da Vinci" Airport

Terminal 1

As invited by an ITA e-mail I checked my bag due to the plane being full
I asked to change my seat, but the lady told me it wasn't possibile for free
However, she told me the last row was empty
Heading to the filter

Security was a breeze, I was able to clear the inspection in 5 minutes

The departure lounge was quite busy, as usual

Guess where's going…

ITA Airways A319 and Volotea A320 at pier A31-52

ITA Airways, SAS, Iberia and Lufthansa birds

WizzAir A321 at pier A61-83

Having some spare minutes I took a walk towards the newest pier
The walkway is enriched with Roman statues

A Ryanair 737 docking at the pier
So close to the walk-way…

The apron with old Alitalia's birds bringing so much nostalgy…

Some old A321s with newer ITA's A330neos

According to PlaneSpotters.com this A330neo belongs to Casamance Owner, a leasing company from Luxembourg
After flying for a while with Air Senegal, it's stored at FCO since March 2025

An old Alitalia A330-200
ITA operates just one of it, expecting to be phased-out by 2032

A bunch of European birds between the two piers: Ryanair, KLM, WizzAir, ITA Airways, Iberia and Lufthansa

Being close to boarding time I made my way to gate A33

The boarding was set for departure

Operations started with some delay, I got my BP scanned fifteen minutes before departure
ITA Airways Airbus A319 EI-IMM
First flight on 26th June 2011 (14.9 years old at the moment of the flight)
Delivered to Alitalia the same month and now part of ITA Airways fleet
Equipped with 144 seats in C-Y mixed configuration
It's dedicated to Marco Simoncelli, the MotoGP racer who tragically passed away in a racing incident at Sepang Circuit, in 2011
I flew on this plane on April 3rd while getting to Rome

Remembrance

As told by the check-in agent, the last row was empty
I got myself 25F
The legroom was tighter than the one on the A220

The plane was full

Selfie time…

Boarding ended around 20:15
Moments after we left the gate, twenty minutes on delay

UPS 767F at the cargo apron

Lining-up almost half a hour later than scheduled

Crossing runway 16R-34L and climbing over the Tyrrean coast with a beautiful sunset behind

Civitavecchia harbour, 50 km north of Rome

Mount Argentario, in Tuscany

Livorno

Massa, with Carrara marble quarries behind

The flight proceeded eventless until descent
Crossing Po river on the approach to Linate

A1 motorway entering Milan

Milan South toll plaza in Melegnano

San Giuliano Milanese, just south of the runway

ENI (Italian national petrol company) Research Center

At 21:18, eight minutes later than scheduled, we touched down at Milano-Linate Airport

Completing the poker of ITA's birds

Docking 3 minutes after putting wheels down

Disembark was pretty fast
The airport was empty, only a few flights were about to depart

My baggage emerged from the conveyor in no time

Being welcomed back in Milan by this beautiful sunset

By 22.10 I collected my car at the long term parking
The drive to San Pellegrino was smooth, I arrived home in one hour
Thank you for the attention
