INTRODUCTION
Hi everyone
After spending Easter in Rome I decided to visit my family again in late May
Having some duties to do in my hometown I planned to stay there until Monday evening
At first I decided to leave on Friday 22nd May, but the plane was definitely too expensive
Therefore, my choice was to get an afternoon flight on Saturday
The whole solution costed me 116 euros

A few days before the flight I checked on Flighty and the inbound one was reported to be cancelled
At first, I almost fainted
By the way, checking ITA's app it was reported that my booking had been reprotected on the following flight, at 17

ROUTING
ITA Airways - Milan Linate LIN > Rome Fiumicino FCO - Airbus A220-300
ITA Airways - Rome Fiumicino FCO > Milan Linate LIN - Airbus A319

Some stats:
11th flight of 2026 (as of June)
Overall great-circle distance flown in 2026 (as of the reported flight): 9.070 km|4.897 nm
14th time on LIN-FCO route
THE FLIGHT
The day before the flight I checked-in on ITA's app
The app had been recently updated and also the boarding pass design is in line with LH-Group standard
Luckily I was assigned a window seat

With the flight departing at 17 I left my house around 14
At that moment the motorway was calm
In more or less one hour I reached Milan

Dropping off the car at the long-term parking and getting shuttled to the terminal was pretty quick
In fifteen minutes I stepped in Milano-Linate Airport

During check-in ITA informed me that the plane was full, meaning I was supposed to check my luggage
Seeing the crowd at ITA's counters I decided to forget about it…

Making my way to the security inspection

The control was quite fast, I got airside in a bunch of minutes

Heading to gate A20

The tarmac was not that busy

KLM CityHopper Embraer E-195

British Airways A320 pulling in

My bird had recently arrived from Rome-FCO and was getting prepped for departure
ITA Airways Airbus A220-300 EI-TEE
First flight on 13rd February 2026 (0.3 years old at the moment of the flight)
Delivered to ITA the following month
Equipped with 150 seats in C-Y mixed configuration
It's dedicated to Maurizio Felugo, a water polo player

Perfectly on time, at 16:20, the gate was opened
There was a bit of confusion about group boarding, most passenger seemed not to care

Sitting next to an easyJet A320

Legroom was definitely good

Only rows 1-3 dedicated to Business Class

Ten minutes before scheduled departure the finger was disconnected

We left the stand moments after the easyJet bird

easyJet and ITA Airways A320s

British Airways A320

A couple of Aeroitalia 737s, with the left one wearing the new livery
It was unveiled on March 2026 after a legal dispute with Alitalia about the resemblance of Aeroitalia's colours with the former carrier
Maybe the tail is a bit simple, but the overall design is nice

Racing with an older cousin

Lining-up six minutes after planned

And getting in the air

Appreciating Milan's skyline as the plane climbed

Banking over Milan suburbs

Lodi, along the Adda river, located 30 km south-east of Milan

Po river, with high-speed rail (left) and A1 motorway (right) viaducts

Piacenza, in Emilia-Romagna

Taro river, flowing south of Parma

Somewhere over the Appennine, on Emilia Romagna-Tuscany border

Arno river valley

Arno river, flowing from Florence to the Tyrrean Sea

Mid-flight a drink was served
No snack was accompanying the beverage

Flying parallel to the coast

Grosseto, in Tuscany

Half-a-hour into the air the plane was prepped for landing

Bracciano Lake, 32 km north of Rome

Bracciano town

Descending from north

Motorway A12, from Rome to Civitavecchia
We'd land on runway 16L

At 17:51, nineteen minutes in advance on schedule, we touched down at Rome-Fiumicino "Leonardo da Vinci" International Airport

Behind us landed a Turkish Airlines A350 (TC-LHH) carrying the special livery for the 500th aircraft delivered to TK

ITA and Aeroitalia at the short-haul apron

Another Aeroitalia bird with new livery

Alitalia "cemetery"

Pier A61-83

Austrian Airlines and Vueling A320s, WizzAir A321s and airBaltic A220 in Lithuania flag special livery
I saw the latter at CDG in mid-April

Docking eleven minutes before scheduled

Disembarking started a bit slowly

Fortunately we arrived at the closest gate to the baggage reclaim area

Exiting in the arrival lounge one minute after 18.10, the scheduled landing time

My parents were awaiting for me at the departure level
It took us 30 minutes to arrive home, less than five hours door-to-door is such a great result for me
