No matter how wonderful a flight experience is, there usually is one or two small nitpicky moments that leave you just a tad disappointed. It may not be fault of anyone, maybe you were just having a bad day. I can say from the bottom of my heart, the stars all aligned today and offered the perfect flight. There were concerns going in, which I will address, but lady luck was smiling tonight.
The first two reports I ever published here were on Starlux and Air France, back when all this was very new to me. Both still live very fondly in my heart whenever I open the site. Unfortunately, then still being a relative newbie with detailed reviews I felt I missed out on many features and reactions I wish I had included. I didn’t want to repeat the exact route, but the opportunity arose when AF began offering their new LP cabin on the Singapore flights.
AF’s release of their new La Premiere cabin hasn’t been without controversy. Some calling it outdated, others suggesting no real distinction between the new and old cabins. I agree, to some extent. On paper, the new cabin just seems like a slightly brighter and wider version of the old, without tackling major questions such as privacy doors or enclosed suites. One thing I remember vividly from my experience on the old LP was the uncomfortable proximity with my seat neighbor. Even with the cabin only half full, it felt vey tight, I could only imagine the experience with a full one. In any other case, the distance was fine but paying such a premium for the most expensive F seat in the skies, you’d expect more privacy. Unfortunately, this problem persists with the new cabin. All above were initial impressions I had in the product before this flight, but my experience was rather different.
AF currently flies the new LP cabin on a few routes, with New York, Los Angeles, and Miami being the focus points in the US. Singapore is currently the only Asian destination featuring the new cabin, with Tokyo Haneda imminent later this year. When looking up pricing, it was a no-brainer picking Singapore as twice as long and half as cheap as a US route. Later inquiring my crew, she mentioned AF will always keep the NY route at full price regardless of load, while some Asian ones will have prices slashed.
Enough prelude let’s get into it, and I cannot wait to share this experience with everyone.
Today’s flight departs at 22:50, but I had plans with a friend, so we hung out around Jewel, the enormous shopping mall connecting to Changi, a few hours prior. Jewel offers early check-in for many airlines, and I had no problem getting my bags checked and boarding passes printed a good 7 hours ahead. When she left, I really wanted a hard-copy LP boarding pass as opposed to the rather flimsy and poor quality one printed by the kiosk. I waited until around 19:50, 3 hours before the flight, when the AF check in opened upstairs.

There’s a dedicated LP check in area with a nice red carpet!

and I knew my efforts weren’t in vain when receiving a lovely holder for my hardcopy boarding pass.

The gentleman at the check-in desk was my dedicated AF representative and offered to take me over through screening and into the lounge. He also asked what time I wanted to be picked up for the gate, great hospitality from an outstation.
From my previous flight on this route, I knew LP used the Qantas F lounge, which I did an extensive review on in that report. It’s a solid way to spend a few hours before your flight, with excellent food, comfortable lounging, and spacious shower suites. Having just eaten dinner at Jewel, I did a few laps around the terminal before making my way to the lounge.

Upon arrival at the lounge, I was pleasantly surprised as the receptionist mentioned “oh! We have been expecting you, welcome!” I opted out of having any a-la-carte food and resorted to some fruit and chips…

, before a lovely server came by and offered their best and oldest whisky.

He seemed eager for me to try some food, so I caved and went with the chili oil wontons which I also had here last time, one of my all-time favorites.

A quick tangent: Growing up in Vancouver, hockey was everywhere. I’d come home from school and immediately grab my stick to play at the neighborhood floor hockey rink. Of course, national pride was at stake tonight with Canada playing the U.S. in the Winter Olympics men’s ice hockey finals. I started watching the first period in the lounge but knew I wouldn’t finish with my flight imminent. More on that later.
When initially arriving, the receptionist asked if I wanted to board first or last. I was desperately trying to take into account the hockey periods and breaks to maximize my time here. I ended up asking to board first… then changing my mind to boarding last.
My server came by to strike up a conversation with me, sharing he was from Nepal and when he asked if I was familiar with his country I mentioned that I knew it’s the country with the super cool shaped flag, to which he laughed. I really needed to pace myself with all the refills of whisky he brought by as I didn’t want a repeat of my last flight where I passed out within 2 hours.
Around 22:10, the receptionist came around to share the ground crew were ready for me. We boarded a small buggy and drove over to our gate.

Changi does security at your boarding gate instead of initially when clearing passport control, still don’t know how I feel about this. The goal was to minimize passenger traffic, but I’ve always seen a massive line piled up at each individual gate nearing boarding time.

I thanked the two AF ground staff members, as I stepped onto our bird taking us over to CDG. Initial impressions, oh wow.

Remember when I said the “new” AF didn’t look too different from the old, seeing it in person was a whole different story. Even looking at it now on my screen, it’s not nearly as impressive. This cabin was gorgeous, so modern and sleek, and incredibly bright. I’m not sure if they invested more in interior lighting, but it was super, and I mean super, bright. I was immediately given the greatest news I’d hear all journey, that it was only me in LP today. Remember when I said the stars aligned, this was probably 80% of it. I still must admit, the new cabin doesn’t solve the issue of close proximity with neighbors, but that’s not something I needed to worry about. My original seat was on the right side, but my crew member, for her privacy I’ll refer to her as Lina, suggested the left side, which was my home for this flight.

The seat encompassed five full windows, featured a pillow on each end. Sitting down, the screen is massive, and the ottoman (if you can even call it that) was enormous. There’s also a seat belt on the opposite side, designed for a pair to sit across each other. LP’s signature red fleece blanket was soon offered.

On my left, there was a large space with wireless charging, and the IFE tablet.

Air vents present on the upper area.

Underneath on your left side was some storage space with a charging port. Type-c charging also available on the upper area just under the lamp. Your tray table also hidden here.

I took a seat over on the other side, with essentially the same amenities mirrored on both ends.

I was offered an amenity kit, and I went with the white one. (The other option being a red one, like the fleece blanket)

Lina then came by to offer welcome drinks, but upon my choice of champagne she apologized and mentioned it could only be opened after the doors were closed. Just a bottle of water for me please.

In the reading materials shelf there’s a card detailing instructions for the suite, which were also meticulously described by Lina.

You can control all suite settings ranging from seat positioning, windows setting, to lighting on the ipad, in addition to IFE options.

On both ends of the seat there’s a small control pad which allows adjustment of lighting, features the crew call button, and essentially doubles as the ipad with seat controls.

The LP lamp, also featured on both ends, my favorite element of the entire cabin. The new type-c charging ports and headphone jack are both located above the wireless charging space.

The purser then came by to introduce herself, although I didn’t really see her around throughout the flight. Upon learning I was trying to watch the hockey game, her and Lina immediately sprang into action trying to inquire the captain about streaming and internet. Even after I emphasized that it’s absolutely not a priority and I was just sharing for fun, they were insistent on gathering some intel. A few minutes later, they came back to mention this aircraft features Starlink wifi and would have no problems streaming anything. They also apologized that Wifi usage may cut out over India/Pakistan, but that wouldn’t be for a good 7 hours or so. Starlink might be taking over as the norm soon, but this was the first time I got to experience it, and it was incredible, more on that later. I was pleasantly surprised by the extra length the crew were going to over something so miniscule.
A minor aspect of my last flight on LP was the main crew member was very quiet. It’s not to criticize an otherwise incredibly professional gentleman, but he seemed a bit distant. Lina was incredible, she was always happy to chat even though she kept apologizing for her English (which was genuinely very good), and never did I feel she was overstepping by continuing conversations too long. She was just another star that all aligned for me today.
After the Wifi confirmation, Lina came back with Jacquemus branded AF pyjamas, by far my favorite in the skies. She then emphasized I should “free feel to hang around the entire cabin, go sit wherever you want, have fun!”. Look at this incredible space, all for me today!

A third crew member, this time a gentleman, also came by to introduce himself. I didn’t catch what his exact title was, but he was dressed in a suit distinct from other cabin crew,so I’d assume he was up there in the ranks. Although I only saw him once or twice during the flight, he always made time to chat with me and suggest wine pairings to compliment my meals.
A hot towel was offered, and oh how I love the AF horse logo.

Struggling to find a spot for my passport, Lina opened up the storage space on my left side, revealing an elegant red area where my headphones were hiding. A mirror also opens up with a light on the right side.

Lina then came back around with the menu, which she insisted I take home as a souvenir. Let’s check it out!

First up, the food:

The extensive drinks menu:

I then took a look back at the J cabin, which Lina was also praising with AF’s newest model featuring the closing doors. Also looks like a great way to fly. I have a trip on AF's A350-1000 from JFK to CDG in the J bulkhead seat coming up, stayed tunred for that!

Some more quick snippets from my seat

Opening up the amenity kit, you’ll find some skin products co-branded with Sisley, along with an eye mask, pen, comb, earbuds, and I’m unsure what that black rope is ://

AF’s safety video then began playing, and it’s one of my favorite, especially the climactic ending scene with everyone on the Eiffel Tower as the music climaxes.

It was awesome the cabin was empty today, but had someone been in the seat next door it probably would have felt quite awkward especially before the curtains dropped.

There’s another storage area on the right side of the ottoman, opening for any bags or suitcases. There is the potential that it may not fit slightly larger suitcases, but that wasn’t an issue for me today. Some extra space opening up under the ottoman, where the slippers were also hidden. I love the omnipresent sleek red design even in otherwise enclosed areas. The slippers, with socks and a shoehorn.

I recall that LP guests usually receive a captain’s greeting. This didn’t happen today. I’m not sure if it was an one-off occasion or if they stopped doing it.
As the cabin lights were dimmed, we began taxing and blasted out of Changi at 22:55 onto our 14 hour 10 minute journey to CDG.

Almost immediately after take off, I was connected to the Starlink wifi and it genuinely had faster speeds than my internet at home. I had no problems streaming hockey (of which Canada lost in devastating fashion) and some Premier League a little later into the journey.

My tablet began malfunctioning and Lina came by to realize it had disconnected while I was playing with it earlier. My bad:)

Lina came by to share her apologies for Canada losing, and suggested we kickoff the meal service to up the mood. Some nuts, cheese crackers, and champagne kicked things off, the Grand Sieclel Laurent-Perrier, which I believe was the same champagne offered in Thai F from Heathrow.
I took a picture of her holding the champagne when it was first brought over, only to later realize the image was very blurry. She insisted she'd bring it back for another shot. Again, just speaks to the soft service.

The table was set, and how gorgeous!

When taking my order, I asked if I could possibly skip the salad course and have two main courses instead. Lina gladly accepted, and shared they actually load one of each main course per LP passenger, so I could have one of each! Wayyyy too much food, but I love that she’s sharing all this info with me.
We kicked things off with the caviar course. There’s noticeably less quantity here compared to most other airlines offering caviar, but the blinis were incredibly toasty and delicious. Considering I’m not the biggest fan of caviar, this was the perfect amount.

Next up, I went with some Bellevoye Whisky on the rocks to accompany my second course, the cauliflower soup.

For long time readers, you’ll know my love for a nice hearty soup. What made this stand out was the bread, incredibly soft and perfectly complimented the soup.

Before my next course, I checked out the toilet. Interestingly, there are two at the front of the LP cabin for 4 passengers. However, the front toilet was closed off with a curtain towards the final few hours. I guess it was for the cockpit to use nearing landing, but I was curious whether it would have been shut off if the cabin was more full. There were a few Sisley products. Given I was the only one in the cabin, the crew always came by to freshen up the toilet leaving it squeaky clean throughout the journey. There was one visit where a tissue was left on the floor. but I'll offer them the benefit of the doubt that I'd revisited before they had a chance to check up.

Also an individual air vent inside, pretty cool.

Back at my seat I noticed this frame-like design between the two middle seats. I guess this is a step up from the old LP cabin now you can fully shut off the middle seats if needed.

Next up was the salmon. I’m personally not a huge fan of Balik Salmon so this was just fine. The fish was extremely fresh and tender, but just a personal preference.

The other starter option was asparagus, poached egg and morel mushrooms, in hindsight I should have gone with that instead.
Next up, my first of two main courses: Pinot Noir-braised beef cheek, trio of heirloom carrots. This was top notch. Beef is always a hit or miss in the air, oh how much of a hit this was. The accompanying sauce was also wonderful; I would have been more than happy with this dish in any restaurant on land.

My second main course: Chicken supreme, vin jaune and truffle sauce, Japanese rice and maitake mushrooms. This was unlike anything I’ve tried before. It was a mix of Western and Asian cuisines, having a cut chicken breast with truffle sauce, a rather Western take, mixed with maitake mushrooms and Japanese rice. I must admit, it worked gracefully. The only minor room for improvement would be having a bit more sauce, since the large quantity of rice made it difficult for the sauce to cover it all. I’ve never been a huge fan of fusion, but AF made it work here. With the extra points to creativity, I think this ranks in the top 3 main courses I’ve ever had on a plane.

I really wanted to try the other main courses, but I felt any more would explode my stomach.
Taking a break before dessert, I thought I’d check on the IFE. Here is what I felt was the only weakness on today’s flight. They have a relatively small selection of IFE, I counted a total of 38 films with many I’d never heard of.

I recall there being far more options on my previous flight, so perhaps they were taking some time to add all the new features. There is also the possibility I just couldn’t find the “see everything” page, but I clicked on “all films” as shown here and only 38 came up. The same could be said with TV series, many relatively unheard of with a few episodes of each.

On a different day, the IFE may have docked some points and stopped this being a perfect flight. But the Starlink internet was genuinely so fast I never needed to use the IFE. I wonder if this is a reason behind limiting the amount of options, as I doubt demand for an IFE is high when you can literally access everything and anything with incredible speed.
Me streaming Spurs v Arsenal somewhere in the sky, with faster speed than at home, what an experience.

For dessert, there were two options and Lina strongly urged me, if I wasn’t going to explode, to give both a try. I think a good 40 minutes passed since my mains, so I was ready to tackle this challenge! She also brought out some dessert wine, a 2022 Condrieu.

Before dessert was served, she closed off the curtains on the seat next to me. I asked if she could leave them open just so I could look out and see the whole cabin, and she was glad to do so. With the curtains closed I guess you wouldn’t know if a seatmate was there. But the privacy issues is moreso during meal service or takeoff/landing.

First up was the Single-origin chocolate and orange mousse. I love chocolate, I love orange, this was made for me. The chocolate wasn’t too sweet and flavors were balanced out with the orange. Nothing exceptional but was nevertheless a great dessert.

Next up, the caramelized pineapple and coconut cream dessert. Similar to the chicken rice, the caramelized pineapple was a concoction I’ve never experienced. The dessert was a bit sweet for me as caramelizing something usually is, but the coconut and biscuit again helped relieve it. I praise AF’s balance of flavors with their desserts, a great way to end an incredible dinner.
Looking back on my review from 2025, I realized they served the exact same pineapple dessert and balik salmon starter back then too. I guess not that long has passed.

As I headed off to the toilet to freshen up, Lina offered turndown service and recommended I utilize the dental kits in the toilet drawers, something I missed on my first visit. 2 sets were provided, one for now and one for pre-landing, perfect!

Back at my seat, the bed was made. Interestingly, the position was reversed as your head was now positioned on the ottoman and feet where your seat was.

Again, the new and old LP seats didn’t seem too distinct in pictures, but this was a significantly more comfortable bed. The bed also felt wider, larger than the one offered in Suites on SQ’s A380s. Lina left me with a both of chocolates and some water before cheerfully saying good night.

Some more whisky as a nightcap, sweet dreams!

A funny interlude here: Both Lina and the purser jump scared me a good four separate times on this flight. It was usually just them showing up from a different angle from where I was looking, and every time they laughed and apologized and playfully “promised” it’d be the last time. The most memorable moment was when Lina peered through the small hole in the top of the curtains to ask if I wanted anything, I swear the water in my hand spilled and I jolted up.
I slept for a good 6 hours or so, and woke up with around 4.5 hours left. If you know me, I love cheese. I don’t think I’ve ever passed on a cheese plate in the air, and I knew I had to try it given France’s fame in the industry. Lina (again scared me) when she came around, and offered up this incredible spread.

Not being a fan of blue cheese, I opted to try a piece of everything else. This came with another piece of toasty bread, a fruit bowl with peaches, blueberries, and pomegranate, and orange juice. I felt I wasn’t going to go back to bed as I wanted to maximize my time awake in the cabin, so I opted to grab some caffeine with an Iced Americano. The cheese was incredible, and I needed seconds which was promptly offered.

For breakfast, a choice between Egg souffle with truffle, grilled tomato half, buttered green beans, fondant potatoes and sauteed mushrooms, or waffles with chocolate, vanilla sauce and chopped hazelnuts. Having more than surpassed my daily sugar intake, I went with the egg souffle. The dish was fine, nothing too memorable. The potatoes and mushrooms stood out having the most flavor, but breakfast on a plane is never as exciting as lunch or dinner.
One minor issue I had was with the prelude of yoghurt, apricot jam, and oats. Just that the oats were still In its packaging, such an easy move to unpackage it and place into a bowl. You never want to see something still packaged on F. The redeeming quality was it tasted great when mixing all three together. I’d never tried yoghurt mixed with jam, I plan on adding that to my breakfast list.

A glimpse of the front toilet I mentioned being curtained off towards the end.

The chocolates from earlier, unboxed.

Breakfast was served!

As all good things do, my incredible flight was coming to an end. I was offered a final hot towel before Lina, the purser, and the elusive gentleman came by to thank me for flying.

I complimented how engaging Lina was before she replied she’s always been eager to chat with passengers and much prefers to do so rather than a quiet journey. Since I was the only LP passenger, I also asked her what would have happened if I wasn’t aboard, what her duties would be. She mentioned she’d probably just help out in other cabins, but since she was a dedicated LP crew her time would mainly be spent supporting coworkers. I wondered if she’d just have the day off to which she laughed and mentioned “oh I wish!”
As landing was imminent, I opened up the plane camera and oh what an experience this was.

In the pitch black, watching in real-time as our plane descended and landed, the perfect end to the perfect flight. This was the first landing I witnessed through the cameras, and now I can’t go back to just a regular landing anymore.

Upon arrival, Lina mentioned a ground staff member was waiting to drive me over to the LP lounge. I had a connecting flight to London in a few hours, but just for reference the lounge is available for all arriving LP passengers even if Paris is your final destination. Looking out the window, I noticed an orange shade and the weather was reflected in my app showing a dust hazard or something.

One final look at what was essentially a small private plane today.

After bidding farewell to Lina, I was escorted by a ground staff member over to the my ride. Another upside to this being the ability to grab shots of my planes from the tarmac, goodbye for now my bird!

I realized I never did an extensive review on the LP lounge last time, I’ll do one today! Arriving at the door, the glamorous red of AF’s LP product is glaring.

Inside, there’s a dining area and a larger lounge space.

Being early morning, I was the only one at the dining area and one of two passengers in the entire lounge. Traffic began to pick up shortly after. Within the dining area, there’s a massive wall filled with small bites, but they were rather empty at this hour other than the trio of cocktails… interesting choice for 5:30 am.

There’s also an a-la-carte menu:

I was still stuffed from my flight, so only ordered a coffee for the time being. One regret I have from these two LP experiences is never being in the lounge during lunch or dinner times. I hear the food is exquisite, but both times happen just to be breakfast.

Deeper inside the lounge there’s a quiet space, with multiple lounging chairs and two mini-beds that aren’t fully enclosed. AF does offer the full-on private hotel rooms but those cost a few thousand euros per 3 hours.

The toilets are massive and very sleek, also stocked with Sisley products. My favorite aspect it definitely the chandelier-like lights up above.

There is a Sisley spa area which I believe comes complimentary with your ticket. It wasn’t open when I first arrived, but I decided to pass anyways.

There are also shower suites available, and I immediately ran to get a rinse.

Interesting note is that there is no lock on the inside, but rather the door cannot be opened from the outside.

A robe is offered along with a great selection of Sisley products.

After my shower, I headed back to the lounge and grabbed some more shots of the space.

A very sleek piece space, as one would expect with the most exclusive of a French Airline.

I captured a funny moment when I realized the chefs can actually access the buffet area through mini doors in the back instead of walking around to the front and placing items on the shelves.

With an hour and a half until my flight, I decided to grab some breakfast, kicking off with a coffee.

I went with the sunny side up eggs with truffle, Iberica white ham, mushrooms, spinach, and bacon, with the latter arriving a good ten minutes after everything else.

I know bacon isn’t really something that’s too hard to perfect, but this was sooo good. It literally came out of the pan seconds ago with the oil still sizzling.

The self service area also began to add a few items.

Finally, I took a trip downstairs to the famous CDG window. Gorgeous!

Returning to the lounge, I noticed the bar area began service.

Finally now, the experience was coming to an end. The same staff member who took me from the Singapore flight drove me over to my London one. I kindly asked her to feel free to drop me off on the gate and I can wait. Last time, the staff member essentially helped me cut through everyone in line on the jetbridge which is completely not her fault, but I just felt a bit embarrassed to be doing so. Today, she kept insisting there’s no need to wait and we can just move to the front, but I insisted and she was happy to do so.
Standing on the jetbridge off to London, that concludes what has been the perfect flight.
What a great trip and related flight report! This flight will probably remain among your most memorable ones. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Thank you so much for your report.
It was a pleasure to read your experience on bard. i progressed my english.
It's a shame to just ask a water bottle before take off in La Premiere ^^.
Alone is this cabin is so great : one pax = one crew ; and pictures look great alone in this cabin. you are lucky tonight.
starlink is very amazing on board
I earn nothing by AF, but thanks to fly in this best french first airline in the world. :)
AF doesn't fly yet with A350-1000 (order only 3 aircrafts maybe 0 ?).
usually captain spent few minute to say hi to first passenger, damn for this flight, he has yet a huge salary...
white menu and alcohol i usually great in LP but i dont know the differences ^^
The stars aligned
You just didnt explain how you booked this flight, i like to understand the "routing" and find a great price for flights :)
See you
