We have arrived from our previous flight from BER looking forward to experiencing the truly Qatar Airways DOH experience. We were welcomed by the garden area which is amazing!
Qatar Airways DOH Lounges
As we were in the garden area, we went to the Garden Lounge first. It is very spacious but gets crowded during evening. We were one of the first arrivals so there was nobody inside.
We had some lunch, especially the steak was incredible! But I have to say once again, I would expect more from QR lounge. Compared to Air France buffet, I prefer it much more than what they had on offer here.
We then went to the old Al Mourjan Lounge on the opposite side of the airport. The Lounge has a great design but is quite small for such a huge airline. Gets crowded in the evening.
The showers were just a few and mediocare. Same was the food in the restaurant area. It is really nice they have some great champagne and incredible steak but if you wish to dine something else, it is much worse. For example the sushi was inedible…
All in all, QR lounges are nice place to stay but you can definitelly survive without.
The Flight
One of the things where Qatar exceeded all expectations was the Qsuite. It was my first time to sit there and I was shocked. I have never seen such a huge space! It was breathtaking. Seats E+F are the best in my point of view, D+G feel much less spacious. But this amount of space, oh my god!
Where the flight got a little worse was the food. Once again, I expected QR to be the best in the skies. Did not happen.
We started with amouse bouche which was tasteless.
The tuna starter was great…
…but the main course was awful. A cod on a mushroom purée.
Cheeses saved the night…
…along with the dessert. I do not know how they can give this as a portion for one, we had a problem to deal with it in 2.
Chocolate to finish the meal. Let`s say, once again, nothing to talk about. Many better chocolate you will find in the supermarket.
And that was it. We then had a nice sleep. I am glad QR has a mattress pad, but it could be softer.
If you would like to have breakfast on this nearly 10-hour flight, you are out of luck. No breakfast options on this flight, which is much longer than many transatlantic flights and arrives at 12 PM. At least they gave us a coffee into a paper cup.
