Dear readers,
As part of my recent Asia trip, mostly in Thailand and Vietnam, there was an opportunity to fly with a new airline. 
We booked separately 2 flights with the young Sun PhuQuoc Airways. It started operations a few weeks before my flight, in October 2025. Our first flight was from Ho Chi Minh City to the island of Phu Quoc and the next flight from Phu Quoc to Hanoi. Since the second flight was longer than the first, that is the one I will be reporting here. Both flights were booked 1 to 2 days before the flight and were quite cheap. A checked luggage was also included in the fare.
We were able to do the OLCI and choose seats at no extra cost.

We arrived at the only terminal with a ride share. On the east side of the airport, many cranes hinting at the expansion of the airport.

Currently there is  one terminal, which is quite modern and used for both domestic and international flights.

Luckily we arrived early at the airport and were able to checkin quickly at the counter.

in the meantime our plane is arriving at the gate: VN-A280. It wears the full livery of the airline. The aircraft used to fly with VietJet Air. It is part of a fleet of 6 aircraft mixing A321 ceo and neo.

After a while it is time for us to board.

There are only few jet bridges for the terminal but our aircraft got one.

The walk from the plane to the belt was short and we didn't have to wait long for our luggage.

Conclusion

Discovering a new airline is always exciting. The flight went well from the booking until exiting the arrival airport.
I must say, I was expecting a hot meal instead of a hot sandwich as an Asian standard. However the sandwich was good and had a lot of meat.
The inflight entertainment was a surprise for a young airline with a rather small fleet for now.
The cabin presented well but there was not much space for the legs.
The crew were professional.
The experience at PhuQuoc airport was decent and it will be probably better once the expansion of the airport is finished.
Regarding Hanoi airport, it was short and uneventful.
