This is the first leg of my round trip to Chicago from Taipei with a stopover in Tokyo,
2014/11/22 CX450 TPE - NRT
2014/11/23 JL010 NRT- ORD http://flight-report.com/en/report-8628.html
2014/11/27 JL009 ORD- NRT http://flight-report.com/en/report-8629.html
2014/11/28 JL809 NRT- TPE http://flight-report.com/en/report-8630.html
I have already done the flight reports for other 3 segments, I wasn't going to write this one because I don't have enough pictures to share with everyone. But I notice this website is missing FR on this route with CX. I thought some info is better than none.
The CX uses terminal 1 for ground service at TPE airport. There are separate check-in for first class and business class/Marco Polo members passengers on counters 4. The ground service at check-in was efficient but nothing outstanding. After check-in was done, I quickly went upstairs the departure level for security check and immigration. There were no fast track service at this airport, so every passenger jointed the long queue for the security check. Here the immigration is always easy and extreme fast for me because I use E-gate, the process takes less than 10 seconds.
I only stopped shortly at the CX lounge, as I arrived late at the airport this time. I had a beef soup noodles and then went straight to the gate. The CX lounge is small but has a business class section and a first class section. I will have more detail on this lounge on my next CX flight report.
Boarding process was smooth as carried out in order of assistance needed passengers, business class, Marco Polo members and lastly economy class passengers.
The cabin manager quickly came to introduce herself after boarding, and welcome drink of champagne and juice were offered. I chose champagne, and it is Champagne Henriort.

The scheduled aircraft was Boeing 777-200, but it turned out to be a sister Boeing 777-300. It is my first time to board on CX new regional business class.

The seats are arranged in 2-3-2 in a row, the back is fix, but seat itself is adjustable. Seat is comfortable, leg room is adequate, obviously it is not a flat seat, but for a non-overnight flight or short flight like this, it is OK for me.

What I like most is the new design of the tablet. It is stored or hided in the back of front seat. it really frees more space between the seats.

The IFE is always a strength of CX flight. Good selection of current movies and TV shows. Although it all starts with an ad, I can always fast forward and skip it.
Once in the air, the menu was given, I ordered a CX signature drink Oriental Breeze, it is a sour-plum tea and cranberry juice based non-alcoholic drink with honey and lemon juice and rose water. My first time to try this cocktail, it tastes some how strange to me.

Lunch was first served with seasonal salad and Saba noodles, and a starter of prosciutto with Boursin cheese. The only thing I don't like are those sources come in plastic containers. They look really cheap.

The main course I chose lamb rock with green peppercorn cream. Both starter and main dish were delicious.

The last was fresh fruits, ice cream and cheeses.

After a wonderful meal, I fell asleep until arrival. I guess it said the seat was really comfortable.
The immigration station was time consuming because of large numbers of passengers, the luggage claim was fast, I then took the shuttle bus to my hotel.

Conclusion

CX no longer offers first class service on this route, but its business product still stands out, IFE and meals are good as usual, although the regional business class is not a flat bed type, but it doesn't make CX less competitive at all.

  • Your introduction tells something about the rise in standards at FR, considering the comprehensiveness and quality of your pictures. OK, there is nothing about both airports, but most often, they do not change from FR to FR.

Thanks for sharing this, and for adding another CX route to FR's data base !

    • Quality of FRs published here are really good in general, I am very happy to be part of this community., thanks for your comment.

  • Thanks for your report. The cabin looks so clean and it is well reflected in your pictures.

  • Looks like a complete FR with me with plenty of beautiful pictures! I didn't even know CX flew this route. VEry interesting. Thanks very much for sharing!

    • @KévinDC : of course you NEED to go to TPE ! :):)

    • CX is the largest foreign carrier here in Taipei airport (TPE), it takes advantages of fifth freedom right, flying to Seoul in South Korea, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Tokyo in Japan.

    • Oh wow, TPE is practically a mini-hub for CX. Good to know! I recently switched from SkyTeam to OneWorld, so now I know I've got a bunch of options with CX to TPE if I ever find myself needing to go there. Thanks for the info!
