Birthday weekend getaway to NYC booked in January to use a companion pass and some expiring ecredits. Booking the ticket was easy but I would almost miss the entire trip due to some fine print.
At check in I received an error message that I needed to present my Delta CC at the airport to check in. Apparently this is a fraud prevention method but after a long search it seems to only come up on flights booked last minute or to countries where fraud is rampant.
I searched high and low for most of the day trying to find the card to no avail. Calling Delta and AMEX to waive or reset this requirement didn’t work. I ended up printing out my CC statements, took my passport and went to the airport. The agents at the airport had never seen this error and after much haggling, looking (and relooking) at my statements, they gave me my boarding pass

The next day, going to the airport, clearing security and getting on the plane was easy.

According to the captain we were going to be arriving 30 minutes ahead of schedule but needed a “squirt” of de-icing.

I’m not a fan of the new Delta seats in first but not because they’re uncomfortable. They are nearly impossible to get out of if you’re not sitting on the bulkhead. The gentleman in front of me fully reclined his seat before takeoff and left it in that position until we were landing. Squeezing through the narrow gap without waking your neighbor or jostling all the seats around you is nearly impossible

PDX has some of the best climb out and landing views in the country. Absolutely stunning morning that my pictures don’t do justice to

The preordered chia oatmeal was about as good as it looks. Terrible. I’ve had the coconut yogurt breakfast dish on board a number of times in the past but this new rendition isn’t it.
The Flight Leader was great and attentive. She was active the whole flight and and very personable

All in all it was a great flight. I picked the wrong food item and the seats are a challenge to navigate. Thank you for reading my rant about Deltas card polic
