Intro
On our way to New Zealand, we used the fares offered by Turkish Airlines from Sofia. That required us to stay for a few hours at the local airport. The arrival on a connecting flight was a little shock for us, as the airport was quite chaotic, old and disorganized. We found our way to T2 by buses, there were no signs, nothing… Should be much better handled!
In T2, there were two mediocare cafés so we went airside to get to the lounge.
Aspire Lounge SOF
Basic but it did its job. Better than expected in SOF.

Food options basic for a short stay, no hot food.

SOF Airport
Some parts of the terminal were really nice with playground a spaces for children.

But what really surprised us was the dancing performance which took place for nearly half an hour. Wow, that made the day! Well done, SOF!

The Flight
Our 739 arrives with a 40 mins delay.

The best business class interior in Europe. Why this is not a standard on other european carriers?

The crew was amazing, served us the welcome drink and even brought the one with a strawberry.

The menu was also served.

Can you imagine this on any other european carrier on 50 mins long flight?
It's surprising that you had public transport problems with Sofia Airport given that it has a direct link to the Metro system.
It is, but only T2. Getting from T1 to T2 is a nightmare, we had to wait for an hour because the bus runs every 30 mins and there were so many people waiting.
That's completely different from what I thought, I thought you had a layover long enough to go to the city itself 😅
