Introduction
Hello amigos!
Welcome to Part 3 of this series. This once, covering the flight between Mexico City and Bogotá.
Previous flights on this series cover the route between Madrid and Mexico City, via Monterrey:
Flight routing
- 1
- 2
While this was not my first flight on AM on this route, it is worth comparing how they fared compared to 2015.
At AICM
The last leg of our Mexico trip was in Puebla. We had to spend a night in CDMX before flying to Bogotá, so we chose to stay at the Terminal 2 NH Hotel. Rooms with a view of the airfield cost more…and were so damn worth it!.

Decent view of Terminal 1

Great view of the city

And of the traffic, I had the chance to see the last two planes I flew out of MEX, sweet!

I spent most of my morning planespotting, just paused for breakfast, and it was time to leave the hotel and head for our flight.

Because our AM+ fare, we were entitled to Sky Priority check in; it was a breeze.

I love the architecture of T2. But even if it is less than 20 years old, the construction feels cheap.

With a couple of hours for ourselves, we went to the AeroMexico Lounge to have lunch and chill…if we could get in.

And we did

Food options, for a flagship lounge were…disappointing.

While bathrooms were clean…their state seems sloppy.

Done with not doing much on the lounge, it was time to head for our gate.

Boeingland.

Boarding AM's 737 8 Max
Again, we enjoyed SkyPriority advantages to board, so I was one of the first to board.

AICM T2 is all about circles…

This was my first time flying the 737 8 Max, I was eager to see how it compared to the A320NEOs

Business Class looked decent enough for the kind of missions this plane does.

Our seats looked great. Probably the best narrowbody seats in Latin America

Each seat seemed to have its own blanket. Something that I don't remember happening on my flight back in 2015.

PTVs were wall mounted, and because of the fuselage's shape, not particularly aligned with my seat, but not a big issue.

Nice view of the LEAP engine.

Good legroom for our 4 hour long flight

Seat pocket contents:

This good boy/girl was to go belowdecks

IFE was fired up

Enroute to Bogotá
We were to take off from the 05 runways, which meant a pretty short taxi.

We had this amazing view of a KLM 789 landing from AMS

It was our turn to go

Zoom to the hotel

Time to go!

Adiós México lindo y querido…

Soon we were over the clouds, time to get comfortable and enjoy our flight

What's up with these random ads?

We were handed our meals (no options). Back in 2015 we got pasta…let's see what AM has in mind for us tonight

A two-bite cheese sandwich. Underwhelming. Considering we didn't have anything good on the lounge…we would have been awfully fed if it weren't for the great breakfast buffet at the hotel.

Mood lighting was set once it was dark outside.

San José, if I'm not wrong.

Another snack before arriving

We took quite a detour there, going even further south than Bogotá

Once we crossed the Central Andes, approach began.

Lufty welcomed us to Colombia

Other planes at the international pier

Being on the first row of Y class, we got off quickly.

Ha….good luck getting into Colombia

We had registered for BioMig, so we went through the border in seconds. Our bags showed up after a while

And so, the Mexico and AeroMexico part of our trip was done.
