Hello and welcome to my inaugural flight review from London, England to Derry-Londonderry in an embraer 145. So let’s get started.

My journey began on the Elizabeth line at a brutal 05:35am! I have never missed a flight and I don’t want to start now.
I checked in one of my rucksacks as Loganair allows one piece of 15kg hold luggage and one piece of 6kg hand luggage and handbag at time of flight.

One of my bags was flagged an searched at security by a very grumpy guard, I asked what was wrong with them and she replied “nothing you need to worry about”, I then stated “how can I stop it happeneing again” and I got BLANKED!. We proceeded through to departures. I found it very convenient not to have to walk through a duty free. The prices at departures were astronomical! In one food joint (can’t remember the name sorry) a small fruit salad pot would set one back <£10, disgraceful.
The gate was shown about 70 minutes before departure. It was on a lower level which ment a bus gate. However, there was an extended session of “boarding but not boarding” we were driven out to
A remote stand next to a parked airbus a350-900 operating for air India. Boarding from the bus was quick and easy despite the ERJ145 only having a single passenger door.
Seats on the ERJ145 are laid out in a 2-1 configuration, I had pre-selected seat 16A - a single seat giving me a fantastic view of the rear mounted engines and the wing

We took of from runway 27L in a westerly direction

A soon as we levelled out to reach our cruising altitude the flight attendant began the complementary snack service. Choose of caramel wafer or shortbread with tea, coffee or water. More than sufficient for a 1h10 flight. I chose caramel wafer.

After the snack and drink service the flight went quickly. I opted not to use the lavatory as I anticipated claustrophobia.

The landing was quite bumpy but the views were excellent on the final approach. We landed and taxiing took minimal time. And we deplaned with the use of the ERJ145’s attached stairs. Bags came quickly and we walked out and got a taxi into the city centre ( there is a bus but it only runs every four hours!)

Very cool first report on an exotic route! I’ve always wanted to try Loganair. They seem like a great little airline. E145s are great when flying alone if you can get the 1-seater side. It looks like a nice experience overall.
Thanks for sharing and welcome!
