TRANSPORT TO HEATHROW AIRPORT
The Heathrow Express is the fastest option for connections between London and Heathrow Airport. Trains depart from Paddington Station every 15 minutes, with the first train leaving at 4:34 AM, making it ideal for those with early flights. The seats are comfortable and well-cushioned, and there is ample storage space for luggage. The journey takes approximately 15 minutes, stopping at Heathrow Airport Terminals 2 and 3 before terminating at Terminal 5.

CHECK-IN
I was traveling on SQ 305 from London Heathrow to Singapore. Similar to other Star Alliance carriers, Singapore Airlines operates out of Terminal 2, also known as The Queen's Terminal. I arrived at 6:20 AM, and the check-in counters were already open. The check-in process was efficient, with dedicated counters for passengers traveling in Suites, First Class, Business Class, and those holding Star Alliance Gold status. There was no line while I was there, and the agent checked me in swiftly.

LOUNGE
Singapore Airlines has its own SilverKris Lounge at Heathrow Airport Terminal 2, specifically Lounge B2, located near Gate B37. During my visit, a buffet-style breakfast was available, and I found the variety of food options to be adequate. I was especially delighted to see that they offered Mackie’s ice cream at breakfast. The ice cream had a rich dairy flavor, making it a perfect way to start the day.

BOARDING
Boarding for today’s flight took place at gate B43, which was just a short walk from the lounge. The waiting area was spacious, with plenty of seats available. Although boarding started approximately 25 minutes late, the process was efficient once it began.

SEAT AND AMENITIES
Welcome aboard this 10-year-old Boeing 777-300ER (9V-SWW).
Upon boarding, I was warmly greeted by flight attendants dressed in Singapore Airlines' signature sarong kebaya. The cabin has a luxurious ambiance, enhanced by inviting mood lighting. I was seated in 12A, located in the front section of the business class cabin.
The business class product on this aircraft was first introduced in 2013, featuring seats designed by the London-based JPA Design. The seat covers were handcrafted from Scottish leather, and the seats are spacious, boasting an impressive width of 30 inches. Arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, these seats provide each passenger with excellent privacy and direct aisle access.

Each seat is equipped with an 18-inch LCD screen, controllable via a video touch-screen handset. Along with the noise-canceling headphones, passengers can enjoy an impressive selection of movies and television programs available through the KrisWorld inflight entertainment system.

The handset is conveniently located next to the armrest and serves as a flight information display when not in use.

The seat also offers an all-in-one panel featuring an in-seat power supply, USB port, eXport, and HDMI ports. Additionally, a floodlight reading light is available for added convenience.

While pillows, blankets, and slippers were provided, the amenity kit was available only upon request.

INFLIGHT SERVICE
Singapore Airlines offers a "Book the Cook" service for flights departing from Heathrow, allowing me to pre-order my meals online. For lunch, I chose beef brisket with noodles, which was served shortly after takeoff. The beef was tender, although I found it a touch too salty. For dinner, I selected beef tenderloin as my main course. While the beef was well-seasoned, it was slightly overcooked. Overall, I felt a bit disappointed with the food offerings on this flight. Catering was provided by Singapore Airlines in partnership with dnata for this flight out of London.

A control panel is conveniently located at the side of the seat for adjustment of seat position. The seat offers two distinct recline options: the Lazy-Z position, which allows passengers to relax in a cradled posture, and the Sundeck position, where passengers can elevate their legs onto the ottoman.

With the assistance of a flight attendant, the seat can be transformed into a flat bed by lowering the backrest. The bed is impressively wide, measuring 28 inches in width and 78 inches in length, making it one of the most spacious business class offerings on the market. However, the footwell is positioned to the side, requiring passengers to sleep in a diagonal position. This is one of the downsides of the product.

ARRIVAL
It was a restful 12.5-hour flight, and I arrived at Singapore Changi Airport early in the morning.

Lovely report. The SQ long-haul J product remains very competitive despite the age of the design. Very spacious, indeed!
