Introduction
This trip report is from Sept 2025. I with FlyPelican from Sydney to Newcastle.
Booking
I booked this flight through the airline website - https://www.flypelican.com.au/
Received pop-up note regarding Sydney airport terminal change.
I chose the pelican saver as I didn't require any extra baggage allowance.
I chose the selection and ticked the terms and condition box.
Was offered an upgrade of refund, I declined.
Extra weight offer.
Seat selection, I chose 2A, which was changed at check-in time.
Payment options
Booking confirmed.

Online check-in
I checked prior to departure if I could check online. Online check-in was not available. On day of travel, I received a message that the flight was rescheduled from original departure time of 2.30pm.
As I was unable to check-on I checked the terminal map to find the check-in counter location. FlyPelican shares check-in counters with Rex.
I checked flightradar24, aircraft information was not available.
While I was on the train to airport, I got a call from the check-in staff to check if I would be flying. I affirmed and informed that I was few minutes away. I had received another SMS with revised time, flight would depart earlier by 15mins.
Arriving at the airport
I arrived at Domestic airport station around 3.30pm.

Checked the flight schedule and terminal direction.
Walked towards Terminal 3 and then took escalator to Departures level.

Arrived at the Departures, check-in was in progress as seen below.
Check-in
FlyPelican shares check-in with Rex. As seen below there was no queue.
I walked straight to the counter. Weighed the bag and showed the handbag to receive the boarding pass. The seat selection was change as the load was light. Flight had 5 passengers - Me and 4 women.

After receiving the boarding pass, I walked towards security. Terminal was not busy, electronics devices left in bag, body scan was conducted for everyone, took couple of minutes to enter the departure area.

I walked towards the boarding gate. Waited for boarding to be called.

Boarding opened around 4.20pm. As the load was light, it didn't take long for boarding to complete.
Bus ride to aircraft
Scanned the boarding pass and entered the bus.

Airside view of Terminal 2. After few minutes of ride, reached the aircraft.
FlyPelican VH-OTQ would be operating this flight to Newcastle - Williamtown Airport.
Ground crew accompanied the bus and shared the passenger list with pilot.

Taxi and Departure
Pilot closed the door and conducted check before flight. As the aircraft does not have a cockpit door, check procedure was visible from seat. Safety instructions were provided by the pilot. A long taxi followed.

Taxi to runway 34R took almost 20mins. Waited in queue for Jetstar Airways to land.

Wow, this was a cool review to read, looks like the first one of Pelican on this site. Not surprised that it was so empty since there probably aren't too many people that go by air to Newcastle, which makes this even more unique of course. A drink or something would have been nice but it's I guess it's too short. Thanks for sharing!
