Introduction
Hello amigos!
Welcome to this FR on ITA's domestic service between Rome and Florence. This trip was actually between Madrid and Florence, but I skipped the Madrid sectors as there is nothing new to report on that end.
While there are direct flights between Madrid and Florence, they were way pricier than going via Rome on AZ. And while I have status both in IB and AZ, I said…why not add another couple of flights to my list?
At Rome Fiumicino
Funny enough, the inbound flight from MAD parked literally just besides the FLR plane.
Downside: we were on remote positions and thus this involved wasting time bussing around FCO…
We made use of the newly opened (back then) concourse. FCO is possibly my favourite airport in Europe.

Boarding was already open when we arrived…so we went from one bus to the next in no time.
Boarding ITA's A319
Another highlight of this flight (for me) is that I would get to experience something other than the A320s which I had rode previously between Rome and Madrid and Athens.
I was greeted by this beutiful little blue Airbus

On the inside…the legacy Alitalia interior. Cramped.

The view from my seat: the plane that brought me from Madrid.

The seat was okay. But the legroom was too tight. Fortunately, we were only to be on this tin of sardines for less than an hour.

Enroute to Florence
Once boarding was completed (flight was packed), we were good to go. We would take off from RWY 25 towards the Mediterranean Sea and then head north to Florence.

Nasty window: blurred views

Somewhere over Italy

The flight was super short…in no time we were arriving

Arrival into FLR allows for very nice views of the Tuscan capital

Beacause of local geography, FLR has a very short runway

I don't recall if this guy had arrived after us or was going to take off

FLR's ATC tower

Local traffic….

Off our beautiful blue airbus

after a ridicoulously short bus ride…we were on the terminal

And now to the Tram.
