INTRODUCTION
As I returned home after summer vacation I took some time to plan some visits to my family for the rest of 2025
On the 23rd August I booked the following weeknds:
13rd-14th September in Pescara, flying from Malpensa with Ryanair
7th-9th November in Rome, flying from Malpensa with Aeroitalia
5th-8th December in Rome, flying from Linate with ITA Airways
I payed 120 euros each for the first and the third one, while for the Aeroitalia flights I used 105 euros of the remaining 140 in the coupon I got last May
On Saturday 14th September my flight to Pescara was scheduled for 8:45 in the morning, meaning I was supposed to wake up at 4 am, leave home around 5 and drive to Malpensa, arriving approximately around 6:30. I got a long term parking there
I actually woke up at 4 am as planned, but stupidly fell asleep again, waking up at 7:10!!! No need to say I didn't try at all to catch it, considering the 105-km ride separating my house and MXP…
Since my parents were quite sad about the missing opportunity they offered me to get a flight for the following weekend
Even if most solutions were worth 200 euros we ended up finding this option for 122 euros:

Usually I prefer to leave on Friday and land back to Milan much later (around 22), but it was a forced choice
Departing from Linate at 9:00 implied leaving my house no later than 6:30, considering at that time the drive is 45-50 minutes only. Moreover, the long term parking at LIN is linked to the Terminal by a 7 minutes walk, dropping away the shuttle's waiting time
ROUTING
ITA Airways - Milan-Linate LIN > Rome-Fiumicino FCO Airbus A319
ITA Airways - Rome-Fiumicino FCO > Milan-Linate LIN Airbus A220-100

Some stats:
21st flight of 2025 (as of September)
Overall great-circle distance flown in 2025 (as of the reported flight): 31.794 km | 17.167 nm
Beating my personal record of 2019 as longest distance flown through the year
8th time on FCO-LIN route
BEFORE THE FLIGHT
24 hours before the flight I was able to check-in on ITA Airways app
Also this time I got assigned a window seat, in the last row of the A220

THE FLIGHT
With the flight departing at 17:20 I asked my parents to bring me at FCO around 16:10-16:20
We left home before 15:50, at that time the ride to the airport proved really fast
Precisely at 16:20 they dropped me off at Rome-Fiumicino "Leonardo da Vinci" Airport

Terminal 1, ITA's home

The check-in hall was pretty busy

Most domestic and European destinations that afternoon

Heading straight to the security inspection

The check-point was quite flowing, I got airside in less than 10 minutes
Differently from Linate, FCO is equipped with high-technology scanners that allows liquids over 100 mL
The departure hall was really crowded

Spotting at FCO Terminal 1 is pretty "boring", being dominated by ITA's birds
A320neos parked at pier A31-52

Pier A1-10 undergoing a massive refurbishment

Other ITA's birds

Ryanair 737 and WizzAir A321neo docked at pier A61-83

Soon after my gate was announced, A41

As boarding started the ground staff announced that the plane was full, meaning cabin baggages would need to be checked
Bag tags were printed at the gate and passengers were instructed to deliver them right before boarding

Air France A220, KLM 737 and WizzAir A321 lined up

European line up:
Austrian Airlines A320, Ryanair Boeing 737, WizzAir A321, easyJet A320, TAP Air Portugal and Iberia A321s

Alitalia's old wide-bodies cemetery, hosting both A330s and Boeing 777s

EI-ISA, the first Triple-7 delivered to Alitalia, back in 2002

This Airbus A340-500 marked I-TALY is leased by Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare)
Before 2015 it was operated by Etihad Airways and was supposed to become the new head-of-state and government plane
Now the service is operated by IAF 31st Wing (31° Stormo) with an A319ACJ
Among people and journalists is mockingly known as "Air Force Renzi", from then Prime-Minister Mattero Renzi, who supported the introduction of the new plane
The plane never entered service due to political (the new Government in 2018 ceased the leasing with EY) and technical (the plane was outdated and lacked commercial value) reasons

After a short bus ride we reached the plane
ITA Airways Airbus A220-100, EI-HDL
First flight on 24th September 2024 (3 days later the flight it will celebrate its first birthday) and delivered to AZ late in October
It's equipped with 125 seats in mixed C-Y configuration and named after Sara Anzanello, an Italian volleyball player who passed away in 2018 for a cancer
I flew this plane back in December 2024 and February 2025, on LIN-FCO and FCO-LIN routes respectively

Love the artwork on the tail

Even this time the cabin was full

Definitely an unusual view of the cabin door…

At 17:15, five minutes before scheduled, doors were closed

Meanwhile an Air Europa 787 just landed from Madrid-MAD

Almost 10 minutes after the doors were armed we left the stand

Taxi to runway 25 was pretty short
A LOT Polish Airlines was taking off to Warsaw-WAW

Engines went full power 15 minutes after scheduled

At 18:20, ten minutes before planned, we touched down at Milano-Linate Airport
The touchdown was quite rough

In a couple of minutes we stopped at the contact gate

Disembark happened really quickly

The walk to the baggage reclaim was pretty short
Baggage took around 5 minute to emerge on the conveyor

After picking up my bag I went straight to the parking lot and grabbed my car
Thank you for the attention ;)
