Arriving today on the Heathrow Express after staying on Bath Road. Took the bus to Central Bus Station then the free transfer from Heathrow' Terminals 2/3 to Terminal 5.

A little tip… Ignore the "Drop bags from…" message. You can bag drop at anytime of day for long-haul, or so the staff tell me.

It was approaching the Lionesses final too, and Heathrow were cheering them on… (Spoiler alert: they won!).

Losing our British Airways frequent flyer status now means full reliance on Priority Pass lounges. Today, it's the Club Aspire Lounge for us.

We're told that the lounge was at capacity and no further members could be admitted. In that same breath, I'm told "If you pay the £30 fee, you'll be able to access straightaway". I told the agent that we were happy to pay, and suddenly, I was told to wait aside where a table miraculously became available. You know I'm not one to complain, but this shunning of PP and LoungeKey has got to stop!

The lounge was not half as busy as they made out, and we were seated across from this filthy trolley. Perhaps this was punishment!!

My husband describes the food selection here as "bland and boring". His words, not mine. Although, I'm hard pressed to disagree.

We did enjoy the pancake machine!

And the lounge does have good apron views. Can you spot the Cathay Pacific Cargo 747 in the distance.

Decided to check on an AUP today (watch the video to see the issues as to why we didn't proceed) but the prices were £390.00 per person, one way from World Traveller (Economy) to World Traveller Plus (Premium Economy) and £855.00 per person, one way from World Traveller (Economy) to Club World (Business).

Today's boarding was from the lower level set of gates, so it was on to a bus for us.

And our ride today is G-XWBO, which was delivered to British Airways in July 2023.

And we boarded via the airstairs. Always a great feeling this!

Our seats today are the middle (31J) and the window (31K).

And they're in this smaller forward Economy cabin, consisting of just 5 rows. It gives it an almost semi-private feel.

The only real gripe on this entire flight was the seat area. It was not clean.

The legroom is standard although slightly reduced due to the location of the IFE (in-flight entertainment) box, located in grey, next to my right foot.

A delayed start. 25 minutes late, then a further 25 minute air traffic control restriction plus the likelihood of holding over Scottish aerospace before the Atlantic Ocean crossing due to reports of bad weather.

And into the gloomy London skies we departed!

Drinks and a snack were served after take-off. BA, PLEASE do away with these pretzels. Even I was dishing these out nearly 10 years ago when i worked as Cabin Crew. Surely there's an alternative, more attractive snack to offer with the bar service?

The toilets were incredibly clean and on the larger size. Located just 5 rows behind where we were seated.

The first meal service then began. I opted for the mushroom rigatoni in a creamy mushroom sauce with cheese and crispy spinach. This was DIVINE and it's no shock that it's come from caterers, DO&CO. (The Rolls-Royce of airline caterers in my opinion). This was served with a starter of peas, broad beans and a mint creme fraiche, crackers and cheese, a white bread roll and a sticky toffee pudding dessert.

My husband opted for the chicken in tomato sauce with fried gnocchi and spinach, which was also knockout!

Mid-flight snacks courtesy of M&S and if you haven't tried these 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil crisps then you're missing out. Yes they're pricey, but they're extremely mourish!

Then the actual in-flight snack basket came around, I tell you the cabin crew were really working hard on this flight. We opted for a pack of Raspberry and Lime flavoured gummies from Yumma Candy and a pack of Tregroes chocolate and caramel waffles. Both were good.

I forgot my Bose headphones and had to make do with the earbuds. I wish you could connect these up to the IFE like you can on other airlines.

We'd brought some sweets and biscuits for the crew (as I tend to do on all flights if I have time). They hunted us down and brought us two leather business class amenity kits from the White Company and two glasses of champagne. This was really not necessary as we don't ever do this with an ulterior motive, but it was a really nice and thoughtful touch.

Then it was time for dinner, served about 90 minutes before touching down at Harry Reid International. We got a corn, radish, lettuce and tomato starter, a main of Chicken Anticucho (which is a Peruvian dish if I'm not mistaken?) and a chocolate brownie dessert pot.

This might not look like much but it was EXCELLENT!

And that was it, we started our descent into Harry Reid International Airport. I must say this flight was a really enjoyable one.

The views on approach into LAS were breathtaking. Look at that sunset!

And the sight of Sin City never disappoints.

Now a week in Las Vegas for us. This flight showed that when BA get it right, they really get it right, and for a brief moment, this flight made me proud of what we offer. If BA could nail the consistency on all long-haul flights like they did on this one, I feel a lot more people would leave happier! Thank for reading and watching.
Really great review and photos ! I see BA's inflight catering is no better than my LHRCVGLHR flights in 2023. Do see my reviews. Great to see another ex BA guy like myself, reviewing BA. I am sure you will agree we both worked in a very different BA than the one today !
I must admit the catering on this flight was exceptional and far better than any I’ve had before (I’ve mainly had bad experiences when it comes to flights en route to LHR/LGW but much better experiences ex-LHR/LGW).
Oh, absolutely! I’m not sure when you left but I’m confident BA’s service and offering is relatively unrecognisable now compared with the service we used to deliver?
Thanks for reading and watching! Will check out your reviews.
Thanks JWO and love your enthusiastiac flight reports ! I left BA in 2009 :)
