Join me in taking BA249 flight from London Heathrow to Buenos Aires Ezeiza airport with a short stopover in Rio de Janeiro (GIG), in a 17 hours journey going back home after a business trip in the UK.

The flight was set to depart at 21:55, so after arriving a few hours before departures and going through security and customs, I went to British Airways Club World Lounge located right after Business Class security area at terminal 5.

The aircraft assigned to this flight was a 24 years old Boeing 777-200ER registered as G-YMMK. My seat was 28A in BA's world traveler (economy class). Thankfully, I had the whole row to myself, and that's great news when you have a 17 hour journey ahead of you.

The legroom in economy class is not good for someone like me with a height of 1,87cm or 6,1ft.

Shortly after take iff dinner was served, the menu this night was the typical chicken or pasta. I decided to go with gnocchi with tomato sauce and some chicken and spinach. Of course, with pasta comes the glass of wine (or shall I say bottle?), on this occasion some italian chardonnay was served. Alongside the pasta, we had some sticky toffee pudding as desert. Overall, the dinner service was good for this ocassion.

The first leg of this flight across the Atlantic Ocean to Rio de Janeiro Galeao airport where a 2 hour layover was expected before continuing the flight to Buenos Aires Ezeiza.

Landing in Rio de Janeiro on a cloudy day, until here, asides from the legroom, service was great. After landing some passenger disembarked the aircraft and the rest of us continuing to Buenos Aires remained on board. Cleaning staff came on board and started cleaning the aircraft with very rude manners. On top of this, the inflight entertainment system was turned off for the whole 2 hr layover. After 14 hours onboard, the seats turned out to be pretty uncomfortable.

After a 3 hour flight from Rio, we were now flying over downtown Buenos Aires on a sunny day at 10,000ft, descending to Ezeiza Intl airport. Finally, after a really looong uncomfortable flight, I was now home!
