Hello everyone,
the same day I booked my flight to Rome I searched for a ticket to visit my sea-house two weekends later
Unfortunately, differently from 2024, Ryanair had moved its flight to Pescara from Bergamo-BGY to Milan Malpensa-MXP
Even if getting from my house in San Pellegrino and Malpensa requires a 105-km drive compared to the one to Bergamo (20 km) I had no other option
Taking a flight at 21:30 would have mean leave my office on time at 17, depart from San Pellegrino around 17:30 and arrive at Malpensa between 19 and 19:30
The motorway passes through Milan, meaning a high risk of traffic due to rush hour
The whole solution costed me 162 euros

ROUTING
Ryanair - Milan MXP > Pescara PSR - Boeing 737-800
Ryanair - Pescara PSR > Milan MXP - Boeing 737-800

Some stats:
17th flight of 2025 (as of July)
Overall great-circle distance flown in 2025 (as of the reported flight): 29.266 km | 15.802 nm
First time on PSR-MXP route
BEFORE THE FLIGHT
The morning of the flight I check-in on Ryanair app
Even this time I was assigned a a central seat
I'd try to change it onboard

THE FLIGHT
With the flight scheduled for 20:20 I asked my parents to bring me at the airport around 19:30
This early arrived was motivated by the fact the terminal is pretty small and the amount of flights is slightly low
We left from our house in Francavilla around 19:15, being just 12 km from the airport
At 19:35 my family dropped me off at Pescara-Abruzzo Airport
I think the glass dome gives a nice touch to the building

I cleared security in literally two minutes
Only my flight was scheduled to depart that afternoon

A banner inside the terminal advertising the construction work to lengthen the runway by 389 meters, allowing heavies to operate at PSR
Until 2012 Air Transat operated a flight from Pescara to Toronto-YYZ with an Airbus A310
Hopefully this improvement will push long-haul carriers to open new routes to PSR

Curiously this was the plane (9H-QDG) that brought me to Pescara two days before
It had just pushed back to depart to Weeze-NRN

As I was arriving at the airport my plane landed from Wroclaw-WRO
It touched down at 19:32 (scheduled 19:55)
Just as I passed security boarding pass check started, leaving passengers to wait before the glass door to the apron

At 19:50, the scheduled boarding time, we're allowed onboard
Ryanair Boeing 737-800 EI-DLD
First flight on 21th December 2005 (19.6 years at the moment of the flight), it was delivered to Ryanair on January 2006
It's among the oldest thirty 737 in Ryanair fleet
It's equipped with 189 seats in full-Y configuration

Gran Sasso (2912 m), the tallest mountain on the Apennines
Its profile is usually referred as "The Sleeping Beauty"

Back door for me

Door shot

Once onboard I asked the crew for a window seat and she directed me to 20A
The plane was showing its age
Load factor was around 80%

Such a beautiful sunset
I like airports carrying the name on the terminal building

Legroom felt tighter than the one on BSI Ryanair planes
Fortunately the middle seat was empty

Minutes after 20 doors were closed

Leaving the stand ten minutes before scheduled departure time

The taxi to runway 04 was pretty short
We would take off pointing to the sea

AT 20:17, three minutes before planned, the plane started to run along the runway

Soon in the air

The Sleeping Beauty wishing us goodbye

Banking over Adriatic Sea

Pescara downtown

Pescara Central station and the main street connecting the railway terminus to the seaside

Pescara touristic harbour
Maiella (2793 m) can be seen in the right background

The Bridge of the Sea over Pescara river

Climbing along the Adriatic coast

During the whole flight the ground was hidden by a thick layer of clouds
Eventually we passed through it a few times

40 minutes into the flight the cabin was prepared for landing

Sun was setting as we approached Milan Malpensa

Crossing A4 motorway just south of MXP

Ticino river, bordering Lombardy and Piedmont Regions

Malpensa Cargo area
We'd land on runway 35L

At 21:21, nineteen minutes in advance, we roughly touched down at Milan-Malpensa "Silvio Berlusconi" Airport

The Emirates A380 was getting ready on its way home to Dubai-DXB

A couple of China Eastern A350s was sitting at the satellite

Cathay Cargo 777F parked at the cargo apron

Arriving at the stand less than 10 minutes after touching down

Disembark operations were quite quick too

No bus ride was needed, I manage to get off the terminal in 25 minutes from landing

I arrived at the parking area around 22
After grabbing my car I stopped in the nearby to have a quick dinner
Riding to my home in San Pellegrino was smooth, I arrived there around midnight
Thank you for the attention
Ciao Carlo, thanks for sharing. Beautiful views of Pescara on departure, a city I have not yet been to having never ventured to the Adriatic coast between Rimini and Bari. Nothing to complain about with FR with on-time service.
Sounds like a route T'way or another Asian LCC would consider. Not sure what other North American carriers are left that would target this type of thin route given the proximity to Roma.
Ciao
Pescara and its nearby are nice, the good balance between a pleasant sea town and not that much crowd.
I’m curious to see if any airline will open any service at PSR, surely an Asian one would be a surprise. Regarding American carriers, I agree with you about the proximity to Rome, however seeing how many routes to US and Canada summer ‘25 had brought I won’t exclude the scenario at all!
