Weight restrictions issue and flight moved to earlier time
A few days before the flight, our flight was moved multiple hours earlier. The change of departure time very close to the departure date was pretty annoying, but tolerable.
This flight was booked through Air France, which caused us some issues with the baggage weight restrictions. At the time, Vistara and Air France had a codeshare agreement, and there was a conflict between Vistara and Air France weight restrictions at check-in, resulting us in paying fees in order to abide by Vistara's weight restrictions.
VT-TQM, now under Air India
As you can tell, this flight review was made quite a while ago, with the 'UK' flight number prefix. One month after this review was made, Air India was acquired by the Tata group, which also owned at the time a 50% stake of Vistara. Rumors surfaced but it was not until late 2023 that the merger was confirmed, and on November 12th, 2024, all Vistara flights transferred to Air India flight number prefix.
VT-TQM was relatively new at the time, beginning operations in August 2024.

Seat model similar to American Airlines, with a Vistara feel
The seat is almost identical in many ways to American Airlines, featuring a entertainment device holder, USB port, and large pocket. Recline was also available, and legroom was ample at 29 inches. Overall a solid product for a less than hour hop like todays flight.

Large In-flight magazine and small IFE selection
Like any AV-geek, shortly after takeoff I opened the complimentary in-flight magazine to the fleet page. Vistara's fleet at the time included a A320neo, A321neo, 737-800NG, and 787-9. The 787-9 is the one aircraft that at the time stood out, offering the only Indian business class product besides Air India. Besides the fleet page, the magazine contained various other information about Vistara's destinations and their airline's miles program.
As for the Personal Device IFE, while I was not able to get footage of it during the flight, the IFE contained a pretty small selection of both Hollywood and Bollywood films, and some tv-shows. In-flight Wi-Fi was not available.

Great complimentary food for a 53 minute flight!
The one thing that made Vistara stand out from all other Indian airlines was its complimentary food. Vistara gives a hot vegetarian pastry, alongside a lemon drink, water bottle, some sauce, and some cumin cookies to go with it. I could barely finish it before descent, and I still have not seen this level of service, even with paid options on airlines in the USA/Canada. Other than that, the flight was pretty calm.

Now descending into Mumbai!
RIP Vistara. They had such good service and a cool brand. Yes, Air India are upping their game and taking some inspiration from Vistara since the merger, but it's still a shame to have lost a unique carrier.
