Hello everyone,
the same day I booked my flight to Rome I searched for a ticket to visit my sea-house two weekends later
Unfortunately, differently from 2024, Ryanair had moved its flight to Pescara from Bergamo-BGY to Milan Malpensa-MXP
Even if getting from my house in San Pellegrino and Malpensa requires a 105-km drive compared to the one to Bergamo (20 km) I had no other option
Taking a flight at 21:30 would have mean leave my office on time at 17, depart from San Pellegrino around 17:30 and arrive at Malpensa between 19 and 19:30
The motorway passes through Milan, meaning a high risk of traffic due to rush hour
The whole solution costed me 162 euros

ROUTING
Ryanair - Milan MXP > Pescara PSR - Boeing 737-800
Ryanair - Pescara PSR > Milan MXP - Boeing 737-800

Some stats:
16th flight of 2025 (as of July)
Overall great-circle distance flown in 2025 (as of the reported flight): 28.703 km | 15.498 nm
First time on MXP-PSR route
BEFORE THE FLIGHT
The day before the flight I checked-in on Ryanair app
I was assigned an aisle seat
However, I was confident I could have got a window one once onboard

Unluckily my friend living near MXP wasn't in town, forcing me to book a long-term parking
I found one located 5 km from the Terminal, costing 33 euros
THE FLIGHT
On Friday afternoon I left my workplace at 17:00
At 17:30 I made my way to Orio Airport to leave a colleague of mine and soon pointed to Malpensa
The motorway around Milan was kinda busy, but I managed to arrived at the parking at 19:15

Having booked online they immediately pick me up with the shuttle bus
At 19:20 I was dropped of at Milan-Malpensa "Silvio Berlusconi" Airport

The check-in hall was busy, a lot of flights were departing at that time

With two hours before my flight I dedicated some time at my favorite MXP's activity: plane spotting from the check-in hall

Royal Air Maroc 737MAX bound to Casablanca-CMN with a Royal Jordanian Embraer E-190 just landed from Amman-AMM

This is an interesting one: Twin Jet Beech 1900D just landed from Lyon-LYS
Later I saw a twin bound to Marseille-MRS

Turkmenistan Airlines A330F lining up to depart to Ashgabat-ASB

El Al 737 and Oman Air 787 pulling in from Muscat-MCT
A line-up of Prime Air 737s is visible in the distance

The cargo apron is always full of nice birds:
MSC Air Cargo, Korean Air Cargo and Qatar Airwas Cargo 777s and a Neos DreamLiner

Neos Air 787 getting ready to leave to Zanzibar-ZNZ, China Eastern A350 boarding to Shanghai-PVG and Turkish Airlines A330 set to go home to Istanbul-IST

Uzbekistan Airlines A321LR pulling into the gate after landing from Tashkent-TAS

Juneyao Air 787 landing from Zhengzhou-CGO
The plane carries a special livery dedicated to "Chinese Peony"

A good perspective:
Lufthansa A320 taxiing on its way to Frankfurt-FRA
easyJet A320neo landing from Rabat-RBA
DHL A300F entering runway to depart to London-LHR

The European satellite
SAS Embraer E-190, Eurowings, TAP Portugal and LaudaMotion A320s

After a long spotting session and a quick dinner at McDonald's I made my way to the gate
It was 20:40, twenty minutes before boarding and 50 before scheduled departure

The security check-point was pretty crowded
I was directed to a lane without automatic tray returner
It made everything messy
10 minutes were needed to clear the inspection

Gate A7 for me, a jetway one

The satellite dedicated to domestic and Schengen flights was quite busy

My gate was already set for boarding and most people were already queuing

At 21:07 (two minutes after scheduled) my plane landed from Pescara-PSR
It had departed at 19:56 (scheduled 19:45)
At the same time the boarding operations started, with passenger waiting in the small hold-room after the counter

Even if the gate is a contact one boarding happened by stairs
We're allowed on the tarmac at 21:30, the scheduled departure time
Austrian Airlines A320 pushing back on its way to Wien-VIE

Tonight's ride:
Ryanair Boeing 737-800 9H-QCD
First flight on 19th February 2016 (9.4 years at the moment of the flight), it was delivered to Ryanair the following March
Now part of Malta Air fleet
It's equipped with 189 seats in full-Y configuration

Meanwhile I spotted this Cygnus Air 757 that had just landed from Ljubljana-LBJ
Never head of this Spanish cargo airline before

The plane was equipped with SkyInteriors
I was among the last to board
Moments after I heard "boarding completed" announcement
I asked a crew member and she informed me 5A was free

As I was getting comfortable something very unusual happened: the plane was full of mosquitos
My legs devoured by the small bas*ards
I heard a lot of passengers complaining and saw the crew members trying to slap the insects

Darkness was setting over MXP as doors closed

At 21:47, seventeen minutes on delay, we left the stand

Mood lighting turned blue for departure

Icelandair 737 Max was sitting at the gate

Ethiopian Airlines A350, landed from Zurich-ZRH less than one hour before
It would later depart to Addis Abeba-ADD

The cargo apron was populated by DHL and Cygnus Air birds

Lining up on runway 35L, taking off northward

At 22:03, more than half a hour after scheduled, the plan rolled down the runway

Terminal 2 area and building
It's solely used by easyJet

Climbing and banking over Somma Lombardo

A8-A26 motorway

Varese, with Maggiore Lake in the background

Climbing over Olona river area

Minutes after departure the lighting was turned orange
The service started soon later

The urban area southward of Como

"Bergamo Island" a so-called area stretched between Adda and Brembo rivers

Bergamo

Bergamo "Orio al Serio" Airport (BGY)

Iseo Lake (on the right) area

Brescia

Following the Po river while pointing at the Adriatic Sea

35 minutes into the flight the seat-belt sign was switched on

Most of the approach was with the open sea on my side
After the last turn I finally was the coastline

Pescara's Marina, the touristic harbour

"Bridge of the Sea", a cable stayed pedestrian walkway

Pineta's district

The runway edge is just 4 km from the sea

At 22:57, seven minutes on delay, we (un)softly touched down at Pescara-Abruzzo Airport

Taxi was pretty short
We parked a couple of moments later

Disembark was quick as well
I really love airports with their name showed on the terminal building

The terminal was at walking distance from the stand
Goodnight to our bird

De Cecco, the second largest pasta manufacturer in Italy, sponsors the hangar
Its headquarters are located 40 km from Pescara

I got of the terminal 10 minutes after landing
My parents were waiting for me and we drove home in less than 20 minutes
Ready to enjoy a weekend of sea
Ciao Carlo, thanks for sharing. Surprised to see they moved the route to MXP since they already serve TRN as well. I would assume BGY would also attract more passengers from Brescia/Verona areas. I guess it is good news for the Abruzzo Coast worthy of a jet bridge even. Standard FR experience, with the added in-flight entertainment of seating mosquitos to keep you busy^^
