AIRPORT/CHECK-IN and LOUNGE
I got to the airport extra early because I was really excited to check out the American Airlines Flagship lounge. Business class passengers get their own line at the check-in if you need to check any luggage. You should not really be checking in though because you can do that online the day before. Free seat selection is included in your business class ticket. Along with your business class ticket you get access to the American Airlines Flagship lounge in terminal D of DFW.

This Lounge has some amazing plane spotting opportunities.

This lounge has so much food available, before 11am the lounge serves breakfast. There are 4 sections of the buffet and a custom omelet station.

This is what I got.

Around 11:15 they started putting out the lunch options. They also had an extensive alcohol selection with all self serve stations.

Along the entire row of windows there are these little pods of seats. They were pretty comfortable but the tables were a little small.

There were also two quiet rooms with TVs.

Here are some more planes I spotted and you can check out my Insta Winged Reviews where I post my plane spotting adventures.

After a quick two hours in the lounge It was time to head down to the gate!

Today we were in gate D15 and sadly we could not see our plane :(

There are separate boarding groups for every class (First, Business, Prem-Economy, and Economy). I was one of the first people in line.

BOARDING and SEAT
After a short time in line it was time to board. This aircraft was registered as JA07WJ, it was a brand new A350-1000 just 8 months old. This aircraft has a 4 class configuration with first, business, Premium Economy, and Economy. I was sitting in seat 7K. It is the last row in the first section of the business class cabin right behind the first class cabin but before the second doors.

This was the first look at the cabin and it looks very spacious and bright. The center overhead bins were removed because they just do not need them and it makes the cabin look so much better!

This was the first impression of the seat. This one was closer to the window rather than being closer to the aisles. On the seat was a pair of headphones, set of slippers, a pillow, mattress topper, and blanket. I put all of the bedding in the overhead bin as there was a lot of space there. The seat itself was pretty comfortable and very spacious. One thing I did want to mention is that there was no personal air vents at the seats and I did think it got a little hot during the flight.

On the side table there was the menu, the amenity kit and a water bottle. This is also where the bulk of the storage options are. The panel next to the lamp opens and is a perfect place for the headphones. This is also where the power outlets are, this seat had USB-C and USB along with a universal power plug is. A new feature of this seat is the wireless charger where you can just set your phone on it and it charges. It was a little bit picky and works about half the time. I decided to just plugged my phone in with the cable from the amenity kit. The panel in front of the wireless charger also opens but it is a little difficult and does not hold to much stuff. The amenity kit and headphones do not fit in this spot.

Upon sitting down the crew greeted me and gave a boarding drink. It was some type of juice and not to bad.

The front of the seat had a 4K 24 inch TV. Under the foot rest was a spot for a bag but when i put my packed backpack there it kind of bulged out so I opted to just put it in the overhead bin.

This is an overview of the seats, on the left side of the front wall you can see the sliding door where you can put a jacket or something else (It has a hanger and hooks). Under that is a little pop door where you can put your shoes and switch out for your slippers.

If you put your bag under the foot rest it takes up a lot of the space and it kind of makes the front of the foot rest bulge out.

This view of the engine was amazing!

Due to the weather storm in the area DFW was shut down for a little bit of time causing us to have a1 hour delay on the ramp. We did get priority because we were a wide body so it could have been worse.

I got some great takeoff pictures!

The amenity kit had some good stuff in it like a charging cable with both USB-C and lighting (You just pull the top off to switch it out), a phone stand, earplugs, eye mask, tissues, toothbrush, and cream.

The headphones were pretty nice and canceled out a good amount of sound from the engines.

LUNCH/DINNER SERVICE
Shortly after takeoff they came around and asked which cuisine we would like and what we would like for our main entree. I went with the international cuisine with a main dish of Prime Beef Tenderloin. For the drink I went with the Sky Time which is the JAL original drink. I cannot express how much I recommend trying airlines signature drinks while you are onboard. I tried Finnair's blueberry juice and it was delicious. The Sky time was even better, I definitely had at least 8 glasses of it! this menu was extensive especially the A LA CARTE Menu.

The first thing they came around with was hot Towels and these warm nuts and olives along with your choice of drink.

After that they handed out the Roast Beef & Bresaola salad. It came with Yukon Red Potatoes, Kale Pesto, Bocconcini fried Onions, Pear Tamarind Vinaigrette. I tried a little bit of it, the beef was pretty good along with the sauce. The Sky Time was amazing.

They gave plenty of silverware and it was freezing cold.

This was the main dish and it was really well presented. Both the beef and mashed potatoes were very hot. The bread roll was not a solid rock it was nice and fluffy. The Balsamic Madeira wine steak sauce was really good. My only critic was that the steak was cooked well done with absolutely no pink on the inside.

The dessert was a raspberry blanc-manger. I was not a big fan of it, it was very sour.

LAVATORY
This was the business class lavatory right behind my seat which was pretty nice. I really liked the black vibe they were going for. It had a lot of features like a bidet toilet, a seat that pulls down, a baby changing table, a lot of mirrors and an amenity bar.

There was mouthwash, toothbrush's, lotion and body mist. In the top shelf they had hand sanitizer and a lot of waste disposal bags. Above the trash can they also had a cup dispenser.

This was the bidet controls. It was a really cool feature that I have not seen on any other planes.

They had a lit makeup mirror that had extra zoom.

Here are some pictures I took of the first class. It was pitch black in the cabin.

BED
One of the best features of this seat is that it turns into a 78in (6.5 feet) flat bed. It is 24 inches wide. I put down the mattress topper and blanket to make it super comfortable. It was really nice to be able to lay down and sleep because this was a 13 hour flight. The only problem I had with the bed mode was that the seat controls on the side of the seat would not turn off and it was supper bright. it was eyelevel when you laid down but that was the only problem. When you close the seat door it makes the space really dark.

SNACKS
After a short nap I was starting to get hungry. They had this little snack setup in the gally but the main source of food would be the A LA Carte menu. You could order it at any time from your screen. It had a cart option so you added the items to your cart and hit send and the crew delivered it to your seat pretty quickly.

One of the first things I ordered was this JAL original Miso Ramen noddle. It was SOOOOO GOOD! I had to order another later on in the flight before landing. It was super hot and they flavors were so good.

I also got the Miso Soup and a side of rice. The rice was wrapped in some seaweed paper. It was so hot I burnt my fingers trying to open it. The miso soup was good just a little to many green onions for me.

My Dad got the cheese platter and he said it was pretty good!

I also got the Ice cream and Dr. Sues Chocolate. They only had one flavor of ice cream. One thing I would like to say is that I am not sure why airlines never give out just plain chocolate. This chocolate had some fancy stuff in it. I am not the biggest fan of it as I would rather just get plain chocolate like Swiss gives out and like Emirates gives out in the snack baskets. Both of these were pretty good.

INFLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT
Japan Airlines offers free Wi-Fi for all passengers. Passengers in first and business get unlimited Wi-Fi for the whole flight. Passengers in Premium economy and economy get 1 hour of free Wi-Fi. it was pretty fast but a little laggy when you try to watch videos.

The IFE screen was very responsive and had a lot of good options like movies, shows, audio, and games. It also has the menu and lets you order food directly from your seat. The IFE had a remote on the side of the seat so you did not have to reach and use the touch screen. There was a good selection of English shows but definitely more Japanese shows. One thing I want to point out is that the screen is a ground breaking 24 inch 4K display.

The inflight camaras were very clear and great to see!

One of the highlights of the IFE is that you can listen to your audio 3 different ways. You can listen with the standard headphones that are provided or you can connect your Bluetooth headphones like air pods which worked extremely well and blocked out a lot of the engine noise. The coolest way you can listen is with the in seat speakers. The seat headrest had two speakers in it, one on each of the foldable sides. It is loud enough for you to hear it but it is not loud enough for you to hear others peoples audio.

BEFORE LANDING SERVICE
For the before landing service you were able to pick anything off of the A LA CARTE menu. I had another bowl of the ramen with a side of rice and a glass of the Sky Time drink. This meal was definitely one of the best things I have every eaten on a plane!

LANDING
After the meal was cleaned up it was a mad dash to get the cabin ready for landing. They came around with a basket of gifts for kids/teens. It had a model planes, a remove before flight tag and a toy plane. It was all branded towards the new A350-1000. I got the model and the tag all completely free.

They also came around and handed out steam masks.

Time for some great views as we come into land!

We landed on Runway 16R

I was surprised by the amount of delta and American Airlines planes here.

American Airlines also flies direct to Tokyo Haneda.

We parked right next to a China Southern A330.

Thank you so much for reading or watching! Your support is greatly appreciated
Great report! Business on the JAL 35K looks fantastic! The food looks amaaazing as always on JAL! The only thing I don't care for too much is that the high square walls kind of make the cabin look like a corporate cube farm 😆
I do appreciate that the walls are quite high and actually useful for privacy whereas most Business class suites with doors have low walls and doors so really don't offer that much privacy.
I'm looking forward to flying on the JAL 35K in a few months myself. Thanks for sharing!
