INTRODUCTION
Hello everyone,
As some of you may remember one of my first experience with Aeroitalia was a true pain. Back in April 2024 my flight from Rome to Bergamo was severed by a 7.5-hour delay due to aircraft issues.
The day after that unlucky flight I filed a complaint on Aeroitalia's website and a few days later they answered me offering a 300 euros coupon as compensation for the delay. In order to get the coupon I was requested to fill a form and send a scan of my ID. I did it the day after. From that moment they literaly disappear.
I spent one year sending e-mails and calling their telephone number. I got no answer from e-mails and every time I called they told me those kind of complaints were handled by e-mails only
On the 8th May 2025 I decided to send a certified email (known in Italy as PEC), a verified message working as a legal equivalent of a traditional registered mail. I explained all the situation, threatening legal action if I didn't get a reply within 14 days (à la guerre comme à la guerre) and putting on copy passenger protection and costumers associations.
In less than 6 hours they replied me, sending the coupon. Bad manners sometimes pays…
On the 14th June I searched some tickets to visit my family in early July, having planned to go on vacation the first two weeks of August
The solution costed me 160 euros of the 300 euros voucher
Leaving from MXP at 18:40 would have meant getting two hours of work permit to leave office at 15. From that time I'd have arrived in MXP around 16:30 where I would have left my car to my friend's house so she could bring me to the terminal before 17:00

ROUTING

Aeroitalia - Rome FCO > Milan MXP - Embraer E-190

Some stats:
15th out of 15 flights of 2025 (as of July 2025)
THE FLIGHT
As my flight was scheduled for 20:50 I decided to arrive at the airport around 19:30/40
I left my home at 19:20 and minutes before 19:40 my parents dropped me at Rome "Leonardo da Vinci" International Airport
Aeroitalia operates at Terminal 3

The check-in hall was pretty busy, many flights were expected to depart that evening

Heading straight to the security filter

Most of the lanes were opened, resulting in a quick process
I was airside in six minutes, exactly one hour before scheduled departure

The departure lounge was pretty busy, every time I pass through A-boarding area (the one dedicated to Schengen flights) I wonder how close to capacity it is

Some spotting:
Ryanair 737 MAX, Iberia, ITA Airways and SAS A320s

According to the screens my flight would experience a 20 minute delay
This gave me a bit more room to get a quick dinner

Gate A22 was already set for departure

At 20:40, half a hour before re-scheduled departure, the gate opened

ITA Airways family portrait at pier A31-52

Vueling A320 in "Vueling loves Barcelona" livery, Wizzair A321, Lauda Motion and TAP A320s at pier A61-83

Brussels Airlines A320 in "Belgian Icons - Atomium" livery, Ryanair 737, Air France and easyJet A320s

ITA Airways A220 and A330neo parked in the engine testing area

Getting onboard this aircraft for the 4th time in one month:
Aeroitalia Embraer ERJ-190SR, SX-PTM
First delivery on 2nd May 2008 (17.1 years old, no infos about the first flight) to Baboo. It later flew for carriers like Azul and BA CityFlyer before entering Marathon Airlines fleet
It’s leased by Aeroitalia since March 2025
Can fly 100 passengers in full-Y configuration

I was among the last to get onboard
As I was making my way to my assigned seat (22B) I heard "boarding completed" announcement
Being the plane half-full and the crew was asking passenger to move towards the middle, I was able to get 11A, on the emergency exit row

At 21:22, more than half a hour later than planned, we left the stand

T'way Air A330 making its way to Seoul-ICN

Pretty uncommon to see planes entering runway 25 from the second set of taxiways (on the left)
Usually they start from the threshold, on the right
Maybe it's due to the busyness

Lining up 15 minutes after turning the engines on

At 21:39, forty-nine minutes on delay to schedule, the plane begin its take-off run

Satellite E31-44

Runway 16R-34L

Fiumicino town

Banking over Tyrrean Sea and pointing north

Being the flight over the sea I didn't spot anything interesting
25 minutes into the flight the cabin was prepared for landing

Genova harbour

Descending over Piedmont Region and admiring the last glimpse of sunset

We'd land from south as usual in MXP

A4 motorway, connecting Turin to Trieste passing by Milan and Venice

Runway 35L for us tonight
Cargo area lies just westward of the runway

At 22:32, twenty-seven minutes later than scheduled, we softly touched down at Milan-Malpensa Airport
I've landed there a few times since the dedication, but that was the first time the crew welcomed passengers to "…Milano Airport, Silvio Berlusconi"

Emirates A380 was getting ready to its flight back home to Dubai-DXB

Parking next to a line up of airliners and cargo:
Poste Air Cargo, Neos, and Air Horizont 737s and FedEx Feeder ATR-72

Blocking less than 10 minutes after touching down

Welcomed in MXP by a DHL A300

As we parked at the gate the stairs was not ready
We had to wait 20 minutes to finally disembark

Oman Air 787 taxiing to the runway to go to Muscat-MCT

Entering the terminal almost half a hour after landing

My friend picked me up once I get off the terminal
It was around 23:30 that I got my car and drive to San Pellegrino
I arrived there minutes before 1 am
Thank you for the attention!
