Prague Airport T1

I used a bus service to get to the Airport for my return flight back to London. There's a few bus routes to get from the city centre to Prague Airport and its not too expensive. I used the AE Service which runs direct to Prague Airport for 100CZK (£3.50p/4EUR/US$4.70).

British Airways fly from Terminal 1 at Prague Airport, which is for flights going to/from Prague outside the Schengen Zone, its basically the more interesting airport Terminal as it gets all the long-haul traffic and flights from further afield. All UK flights depart from here regardless of airline, but its split into two Concourses Airside- A & B.

Normally you have to pass through security before you get to the passport check point, but in Prague Airport you clear through gates to get airside and go straight to Passport Control to be checked out of the Czech Republic & the Schengen Zone. The security is done at the Gates, so make sure you leave plenty of time for getting through security at the gate.

Once you're through passport control, you're free to roam the A & B Gates, but not before having to make the mandatory route march through Prague's Duty Free shop… yet again, I didn't buy a thing here!

Once I was airside and through Duty Free I went to spend some of my last Czech Koruna as it wouldn't be worth much back in the UK and I wasn't sure when I would be committed to coming back to Prague, which I do want to do as I really enjoyed my birthday here! One thing was for sure, I was going to find something more exotic than that Costa Coffee shop!

Having done the Pilsner Experience in the city of Prague, I was pleased to see a Pilsner-Urquell restaurant & bar airside at Prague Airport… so it seemed fitting to end my trip before my flight in this place. If you notice on the menu, anything that is originally from the Czech Republic has a little Czech flag next to it, a nice feature!

I opted to enjoy a Pilsner beer with a bagel with meat & cheese in it, it was very hearty and filling and wasn't too expensive! It dealt with the last of my Czech notes and most of my coins.

I followed the progress of my aircraft during the last bit of its flight, after I was done in the Pilsner Bar, I left and noticed my plane was parked over at the other Concourse (Pier) and made a quick dash over towards where my flight as it looked to be a bit of a walk, once there I waited a few minutes to get through the security check point at the Gate, and it was now a waiting game to be boarded!

BA's New Cabin (PRG-LHR)

Flight routing

My flight that evening was to be on an Airbus A320neo of British Airways, G-TTNZ, delivered brand new to British Airways in late June 2024 and only 8 months old at the time of flying it. It entered service on July 1st 2024 and has a maximum capacity of 180 passengers.

I knew British Airways was giving their Airbus A320-family a make-over for their Euro Traveller & Club Europe product, having deduced that their original plans for the A320neo family of having half the aircraft with "Vueling-style" seats went down as well as you could expect. I walked into the A320neo and found mine was one of the newest and was already delivered with the new BA Seats & Cabin introduced in 2024.

The seats are quite similar to what is being rolled out on the BA Cityflyer ERJ-190s, but in a 3-3 configuration, with the middle seat being blocked in Club Europe. They're a dark blue leather with red trimmings on the head rest and a white plastic seat back. It looks premium, but will it hold up on a nearly 2 hour flight?

We had an on time push back, the crew did the usual safety demo before dimming the lights for take off. We taxied around the snow covered Prague Airport in the night as the pilots located Runway 24 for our departure.

Once we lined-up on Runway 24, it was full power and straight up into the night skies over Czechia. We took off away from Prague, so all the lights bellow are from near by towns to the West of the Czech capital city.

Our route would take us West across the Czech Republic overflying towns/cities that include; Kladno, Rakovnik & Jesenice. We would then fly across Germany and the Netherlands before crossing over the North Sea passing over Cities/Towns including: Hof, Sonneberg, Suhl, Hunfeld, Dusseldorf, Eindhoven & Breda.

Shortly after take off and once the crew got released to do their tasks, I quickly found myself getting my pre-order meal deal from the Speedbird Café that I had done days before the flight. For my "Meal Deal" I opted for pringles, BrewDog Speedbird beer & a New Yorker brioche roll. I wasn't too impressed by the roll, but I ate it, I won't be ordering it again as it was a bit of a miss.

Later in the flight I opted to buy a hot tea, I used the BA Wi-Fi's free offering to get onto the main website and order via the Speedbird Café, it worked a nice treat and its a nifty way to make orders on longer European flights. Before this I had accepted the complimentary chocolate biscuits (aka. cookies) and bottle of water which I thought might be handy on my journey back after landing.

I also visited the toilet during this flight and spoke to the crew for a few minutes asking how their day was. I also grabbed a few shots from the rear of the plane whilst waiting for one of the two rear toilets to become available on my phone.

There wasn't a curtain up separating Club Europe & Euro Traveller, I assumed it was another cost cutting measure from BA on these newer A320neo, but it wasn't- the curtain rack was simply broken and BA wasn't going to take a plane out of service for it, the curtain you see is the one that hides the cockpit door at the forward galley.

Our arrival into London Heathrow bought us in over Essex, we passed North of Southend-on-Sea & Basildon and South of Chelmsford. We then flew over North London whilst descending, passing over Watford, once we were over Maidenhead in East Berkshire we then made a turn over Marlow & Henley-on-Thames before lining up for arrival onto Runway 09L, the North Runway.

Our arrival meant I got a good night time view of Terminal 5, even though this BA flight would be going to Terminal 3. We taxied over to Terminal 3 and parked up on stand. I held back a few minutes to get some pictures of the new cabin once most of the other passengers left. I noticed BA had invested into adding Air Vents into the cabin ceiling, something some airlines have been opting not to include, alongside some more modern lights and the cabin crew lights lit up by a massive blue bar.

As I had no idea when I'd be on an A320neo with the new cabin again, I relished in one final look around. I noticed that BA had backtracked on the Club Europe middle seat being left empty, the tray table was back and with an updated design to look more matching with the new cabin. This new one had dark blue leather padding as well as an oak coloured split panel, it was cool to see this back and not just simply relying on an empty seat as with the original A320neo/A321neo. The "Speedbird" logo was left attached to the bulkhead, but redesigned from a solid silver/chrome to an "open" design with bars of metal shaped into the logo.

Once I got off the plane I made my way to passport control to end the trip. It was a short walk over to immigration and the passport kiosks were mainly empty and there wasn't much queuing going on, so I was straight through with little problem. We were one of the last flights into Terminal 3 that evening, most of the arrivals were BA flights from Europe including Oslo, Toulouse & Budapest.

Overall a very nice Euro Traveller experience on British Airways, one of many flights I'm making with them in 2025. But read on below to see what I enjoyed during my time in Prague!

Conclusion

Overall a great trip to Prague and a lovely flight back with British Airways, it was nice to enjoy the new cabin and I look forward to flying it again in the future, its a huge improvement over the one introduced in the Alex Cruz era found on most the older A320neo-Family, hopefully it won't be long before they get retro-fitted!

  • Really nice review that I enjoyed reading ! I am so glad your Speedbird Cafe was correct. On two flights I have had the wrong order and a late delivery. I flew G-TTNT last year LHRMAN and noted that the Club Europe / EuroTraveller curtain was non existent. I wonder if these aircrafts actually have no divider.
