Hello guys, its been a while since I last posted, but I'm back. Here's a flight review on my recent BKK-MXP flight on Thai's rare fleet of Boeing 787-9s.

The greatest thing about this flight is that it takes place in the dead of night, so you could essentially go to bed after the meal service, and wake up "refreshed" in Milan where it is early in the morning sans jetlag.

There nothing remarkable about this flight, but it was a decent flight that takes you where you need to be. The legroom was okay, the IFE was modern and big, and there wasn't much going on.

Dinner Service - I'm allergic to peanuts so I went with the tagliatelle

It was decent

There's nothing special about the toilet; it was clean

Descent over Milan

For other passengers - the limited jetbridges at Malpensa is a curse, but for AVgeeks like me, it is a blessing.

Nice report and the catering always looks so good on TG, though it still looks weird to me as it wasn't that long ago they used real china and silverware and glasses in Y, even short-haul.
Their fleet planning has always been a mess that's why they have such inconsistent products, but for the 789s, they originally had 2 and they they took advantage of some good deals on 2nd hand aircraft, so they have a 3rd one that's an ex-Bamboo Airways, and similarly have a bunch of ex-Hainan group A350s in addition to their own A350s and all of those have the original cabins, adding to the inconsistent cabin products.
I think TG have been in survival mode for years and have gotten rid of a lot of the more expensive leased aircraft or retired others and then acquired a lot of second hand aircraft to replace them, except for the new 77Ws which were fresh out of the factory. They needed a new Flagship after they got rid of the 747s and A380s.
The one thing that is consistent with Thai is the good service and catering. And of course the hard product inconsistency is less apparent in Economy whereas in Business class there can be a huge difference between old 2-2-2 configurations or new 1-2-1 configurations on different subfleets of the same aircraft type.
Ugh, I hate that! Crews should now be allowed to do that during the day. If people want to sleep when it's daytime out, they can wear a mask. So annoying.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for your insights!
Thank you for the trip report!
The meal looked substantial. TG recently update their catering to include snacks and some interesting menu.
Regarding their fleet plan, they are in a middle of fleet renewal the moment. There will be 51+ 787s in the future with 45 787-9 and 6 787-10 all will come with GE engines and return the existing fleet to the lessor. This is in addition to 32 new A321neos.
Yeh, the meal service was pretty good. Thanks for the insights.
