Decent Experience, great food, IFE not available for use
This is the 2nd leg of my flight from SIN, transferring at IST. TK has a rather generous 30kg baggage allowance for both legs which I did not fully utilize.
After rushing through IST, picking up some souvenirs in the process, I arrived at the gate in time to catch the bus to board the plane. Boarding process at the gate was smooth and efficient.
Aircraft of the day is a 8.4 years old A330-300 named "Göbeklitepe". We boarded "Göbeklitepe" the traditional way:
"Göbeklitepe" is fitted with a C28 Y261 configuration, and I was seated at 25K at the 2-2 side. No amenity kits given for this flight. I was spoiled by TK expecting slippers provided like my previous leg.
Seats are equipped with individual IFEs, but for some reason it was not available for use and appeared to be turned off. With no entertainment available, I resorted to the old-fashioned approach of chatting with the kind stranger next to me.
Approximately 2h into the flight, I was served a hearty Mediterranean breakfast - omelette and some sort of (Turkish?) spinach lasagna, served alongside a couple of cheeses (hard & soft), yogurt and bread. Of course, a red wine to go with my breakfast because… why not? The omelette was well cooked (overcooked omelette are so common on in-flight meals), and the lasagna was awesome. Every layer was thin but rather chewy and it was seasoned properly.
Was able to take a short nap within the 4h flight time. Soon we're approaching Madrid, and finally with a smooth touchdown at MAD airport 37 mins ahead of time.
