Prologue
During 2022, friends share a trip project across the Atlantic for the end of the year. The first part of the trip is New York for which I do not follow up having stayed there in September but the second part planned for Seattle with the visit of the Museum of Flight tempts me well as well as the extension which follows in Las Vegas. Professional constraints prevent me from committing myself early enough and it is only in mid-October that i'm sure i can travel.
reservation
The route is served by Aer Lingus daily by A330-300. The company having provided intra-European flights during the summer in the A330, it is easy for me to find reports and to see that the cabin is modern and comfortable.
This will be the opportunity for me to fly for the first time with the Irish company.
It remains to go to Dublin from Paris, Aer Lingus is very competitive on the connection compared to Air France (66€ the AR in Eco). In addition, for a reasonable supplement on can be classified in Aerspace which is the equivalent of a Business (125€ the return flight).
So I buy the transatlantic flight then the Paris Dublin, the two flights on a single ticket from Paris almost doubling the price. These are two different tickets which could be a problem but as it remains on the same company, I take the risk.
The routing will be as follows but not everything will go as planned.
Flight routing
- 1Paris CDG - Dublin DUB - EI521 - Airbus A321NeoLR - Affaires
- 2Dublin DUB -Seattle SEA - EI53 - Airbus A330-300 - Affaires
- 3Seattle SEA - Dublin DUB -EI52 - Airbus A330-300 - Affaires
- 4Dublin DUB - Paris CDG - EI528 - Airbus A320 - Affaires
going to airport
The weather forecast on the day of departure is bad and snow is expected in Paris. To avoid being stuck in gigantic traffic jams, I change my plans and prefer to spend the night at Moxy de Charles de Gaulle. I cancel my parking reservation and reach the hotel via Uber.

The Moxy is not luxurious but practical and inexpensive. I am about to have a good night except that an SMS informs me that my flight is canceled and reposted the following day. Nothing to do with the snow which will fall lightly on the Paris region, it is in Dublin that it poses a problem and the morning AF flight on which I could have referred is also cancelled.
The problem is that my flight to Seattle the next day is maintained and that I will inevitably miss it.

So I go the next morning to Terminal 2E where the flight leaves to find a solution.
The airport was symbolically renamed Anne de Gaulle for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

There are people at the check-in counters but they can't do anything, just give me a phone number.
No waiting to contact Aer Lingus I explain my problem (in English otherwise I had to wait until 10:00 a.m. for the opening of the offices in France) Finally I was relocated on the next day's flight to Seattle without extra to pay
one day at airport
What to do until the next day?
Going home with your luggage by public transport is not easy and the price of a round trip by VTC or taxi is higher than the price of a hotel room.
Finally, I book at the Holiday Inn Express, opposite the Moxy, where I can put my luggage before taking the room that will be available at noon.

What can i do until the next day? this is the opportunity to go to Terminal 1 which has just reopened.

And to go near Roissypole to see this bird.

ToTerminal 3, few departing flights.

Terminal 2AC in the process of being closed for work.

More flights here, a lot of Easy Jet.

After working at the hotel, a quick trip to Aéroville. The shopping center is accessible by bus from Roissypole.

Good night with a view of Terminal 1

next day at the airport
The Holiday Inn Express is located within walking distance of the PR parking lot and its transportation access

The flights of the day.

My flight is indicated on time

There is indeed a fast line but shared with the drop bag so there is a jam at the counters.

Finally, no fast track or lounge, and impossible to forward my luggage to Seattle.

I hve a nice seat on 3A

Many people waiting at Sky Priority counters

Only a few minutes for passeport control.

Going to portes L.

Arriving gates L

Finaly i go to fast track.

and arrived quickly airside.

The L doors offer beautiful bright spaces and the layout is practical.

Air Mauritius at gate.

Air France A330-200.

At gate L25, something is missing.

For a good reason, the plane is still over Ireland.

Sylvester is looking for lounge.

I thought I saw a cat

The FIDS always announces the flight on time when we should have left. ????

Our plane will land more than an hour late.

I will board last.

the flight report
Our aircraft, a barely one year old Airbus A321 Neo LR is normally deployed on flights from Ireland to the US East Coast
It is equipped with a Business cabin offering 16 full flat seats and an Eco cabin also suitable for long-haul flights with 168 seats equipped with an individual screen. The seat is 18 inches wide and 31 inches tall. It is powered by 2 CFMI LEAP-1A33 engines allowing it to travel across the Atlantic.

The door.

THE CABIN AND THE SEAT
The first impression is very positive, the feeling of space exists despite being on board a single-aisle.

A bulkhead separates the two cabins.

The Sylvester test.

The view of the seat is clear.

The screen between the two seats in the previous row.

The screen is touch sensitive but there is a remote control.

Below is a handy storage space.

Another slightly larger chest.

The seat controls, the reading light, a universal socket, the headphone socket and a USB socket.

Seat and light controls are duplicated on the console for easy reach when the seat is in the bed position.

The foot box is large.

PSU is modern.

Les sièges sont disposés en 2-2 et 1-1 ce qui peut satisfaire aussi bien les voyageurs solo que ceux voyageant à deux.

The seat in bed position

To the question, ready to make a long-haul flight in this type of aircraft? Certainly yes, there is a bit of the atmosphere of the upper deck of the B747.

There will be three pax in business cabin and the plane will not be full in the coach class. Air Lingus operates four daily rotations from Dublin.

We push back at 11:20 a.m. more than an hour late. Fortunately, my connection in Dublin is long.

F-GSPZ which will leave for Antananarivo (TNR) two hours late.

TG and AF

Takeoff will be from runway 08L

With a beautiful view of CDG

Climb to the north around Saint Soupplets city.

You can connect your own device.

Geovision exists but the interaction is very limited.

The screen is of high quality and the choice of entertainment is significant.

Over the Chanel.

A snack is served, in fact, you can pick from the Bob.

The table is quite practical and of good size.

England had white highlights, it had snowed a lot during the previous days.

The Thames and London on the right.

The duo seats.

On the left side, you can see the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth.

Bristol on the left, the Prince of Wales bridge and the Bristol Channel

Cardiff.

The plane is equipped with three toilets in the back.

Space has been optimized.

Galley is small.

The Eco cabin has nothing to do with an aircraft intended for MC flights.

Let's go back to the right side before leaving Wales?

After a few minutes, Ireland appears on the left.

We go along the east coast of Ireland.

The town of Howth and its port, the surroundings are famous for the cliffs;

Burrow Beach near Dublin.

We are passing over the M1 motorway

To land on runway 28.

The next one will be like this.

DUB has a border desk with the USA. The flights to the US are in this part of the terminal.

We park near the twin brother leaving for Philadelphia (PHL)

I have to get my luggage to check in again on the next flight.

Passport control will be done without any waiting.

And my suitcase will arrive soon after.

THE FLIGHT ACCORDING TO FLIGHTRADAR24

See you soon for next flight.
Many thanks for your FR.
An airline and a route that I know very well, but always in economy.
It is a shame that, traveling in Business Class, you have to grab something from the BoB. A specific catering should be provided.
As you say, the most important is the comfortable seat, a real J. We miss it so much in Europe!
I can see some planes EI with the former livery on your pictures at DUB. I liked it so much, the new one is less impressive to me.
Great report! Nice to see a report on the EI 32Q! It’s a very nice aircraft with a lovely cabin. In my very limited experience with EI Business class on long haul, I’m a fan of this cabin as it has good seating options for everyone: side by side seating for those travelling together and the throne seats for those travelling alone. I know there are newer, more spacious narrow-body J cabins out there but, as I often travel with my spouse and child, I really like these types of configurations. I also find EI crews to be consistently friendly and efficient.
The Aerspace soft product is definitely lacking in short haul flights compared to the competition, but then again I’m just glad EI offer a business class on short haul at all, since they didn’t until just a few years ago. And the price seems like a good value…if you can get the 321neo, at least.
Thanks for sharing!
