Chinese New Year Night Market and Sunday Market along Gaya Street

And not to mention the local food and cheap seafood!

Day for the flight back home. We took a taxi from our hotel for another rip-off RM30 (all taxis charge the same!) for the 15min ride to the airport Terminal 2, where Air Asia and some other budget airlines depart from.

Most of the check-in/bag-drop counters are dedicated to Air Asia. Apparently Cebu Pacific and Easterjet also operates from Terminal 2.

Drop our bags (laden with frozen seafood) and verified our PIY (print-it-yourself) boarding passes.

A few souvenir and convenience stores at the check-in area, including a frozen seafood shop!

Destinations AirAsia flies to from Kota Kinabalu. Apparently it is not updated as they now too fly to Hangzhou, Bali and Manila from KK too.

After having a coffee at a café, we proceeded through security and immigration into the waiting lounge, where it is made up of rows of seats and over-priced duty-free shops. Think KL's LCCT. Judging by the number of people in the waiting area, it is gonna be a rather full flight!

Boarding via the traditional way again. No airbridges at Terminal 2. We chose to board from the rear stairs instead.

Seats at the rear of the plane.

Its smoking!! Lots of condensation from the aircon vents.

View from window.

Legroom at row 22 seems to be a tad better, but still cramped.

All pax boarded rather efficiently and doors were closed on the dot. Rather full flight! Flight time was announced as 2hr and we were pushed back.

Had a rather lengthy taxi to Rwy02, passing the newer but looked deserted Terminal One.
And took off at the intersection. Nice view of the islands off KK!
Pulau Gaya

Climbing through the clouds. Not too good and slight bumpy weather enroute.

After takeoff announcement and cabin view.
Immigration cards given out and crew started distributing the pre-ordered meals. Again, lots of pre-orders today. Crew were generally friendly and cheerful, just like on any Asian full-frills carriers. Due to the number of meals ordered, service took a while.

Our pre-ordered meals! Again, a mini-buffet! We ordered 2 mains, a burger and a sinful muffin.

Asian fried rice with satay.

Sweet and sour fish with flavoured rice. This is a Chinese New Year special, and is delicious! It came in a set with nuts and green tea.

Cheesy chicken burger. Nothing special. Won't order it again.

Very sinful and yummy triple-choc muffin, washed down with a cup of hot green tea.

And some salted nuts after the meal.

Obligatory cabin shot.

Napping the rest of the flight away and we were soon descending into Singapore.

Landed on Rwy 02L a good 10 minutes early.
Just a short taxi to the gate at Terminal One.

Parked beside a QF A330.

2 QF A330s seen during disembarkation.

Great report thanks for sharing, if only LCC's in Europe were half as good as Air Asia...
I was surprised to see all this labeling in Chinese in the market. I agree with AirCanada881 : Air Asia delivers a very convincing product. Thanks for this FR !
Thanks for the report and destination bonus. That looks like a Chinatown neighborhood hence the labeling in Chinese.
It seems that Air Asia has a liberal policy when it comes to inflight crew grooming. I couldn't help but notice the haircut on the male crew.
