Hi everyone!
I’m glad to share with you the FR of one of my latest flights! EZE to MIA con American Airlines seasonal daytime flight.
Date: 28/01/13
From: Buenos Aires EZE
To: Miami MIA
Dep: 11.00 (11.00 real)
Arr: 18.05 (17.30 real)
We arrived at EZE 3 hours before departure. The night before I checked myself in and chose the seats. I hate it that you can’t choose the good seats when you book the flight because they are blocked, so you have to wait until checking in, or pay something like u$60. So when we got to EZE we went to the self check in machines to print our boarding passes (they have an agent check your travel documentation here). Then we went to the counter to leave our baggage. There was a big line to do this, the flight was almost full!

I went through migration and once you get to this point you can go to the duty free or go to the waiting area on the old Terminal A. Some month before my flight the new Terminal B opened, ant the three terminals (A, B and C) are connected on the airside. I went walking though this new area and I really liked it! They have some shops, a Starbucks, bars, etc.

At this time at EZE it’s mainly wide bodies that arrive early in the morning from the USA and Europe. The smallest planes I saw were Austral’s Embraer 190.

At 10.15 boarding started. The flight attendants greeted us and it really surprised me that they were all (very) adult females (from 45 and on!). I was used to Emirates crew that they are extremely young! Hehehe. They were all very professional and cheerful (except the “latin” one). Also there was one of them who was retiring after 45 years of service! Amazing!

At 11.00 we took off. Very punctual. Some minutes later they gave us the snack: A coke can and some pretzels. One hour later they served the lunch. The options were meat or chicken. I took the meat. It wasn’t anything special. There was a caramel flan for dessert.

During the flight I entertained myself reading the magazines onboard, I watched a couple of episodes of the TV series “Bones”, and I played Tetris. The IFE on AA’s 777-200 isn’t anything special at all.

My seat was 35A on, next to the window on the left side of the plane. It was comfortable for just 8 hours on a daytime flight. The legroom was ok.
One hour before landing they gave us another snack. It was really good! It included a salad with cheddar cheese, Serrano ham, and tomato, a big meat empanada (was amazingly tasty), some crackers and an alfajor (it’s like type of cookie filled with dulce de leche). When I asked the “latin” flight attendant a second can of coke she refused to give me the can! And she had lots of it on the trolley! She said it was unfair if I received two cans and the rest of the passenger just one. I couldn’t believe it!

At 17.15 Miami time we started our descent. We passed above the Everglades and finally at 17.30 we landed.

  • I liked the photos of the B terminal.

In my opinion (considering that EZE is not one of the most important airports in the world) has some of the most neat and clean terminals.

why you scored with 2 access and parking?

    Again, great FR!

    • Hey! I'm glad you liked the report!

Yes, I agree that EZE is very clean, specialy the new terminals.

I marked with a 2 on access and parking for two reasons:

      - I think that EZE is very bad connected with the Capital Federal area of Buenos Aires, there should be a suburban train line, or a metro extention to the airport, not only the expensive and unconfortable Manuel Tienda Leon shuttle and taxis/privet cars. It's also bad connected to AEP airport as well. But we all know that public transportation is a complicated issue in Argentina.

      - The person that drove me to EZE wanted to leave the car on the covered parking (as we were going to be out of town for 10 days, and he wouldn't take the risk to leave the car unprotected during the summer) and it was completly full, as there are not many places as there should be. The only way to get a place there was by bribing someone.

I cannot make a comparison between AR and LAN and AA because I never flew long haul with the local carriers!

      Thanks for your comments!

      Saludos

  • Thank you for this cemprehensive report.

The attitude of the latin F.A. is miserable. I doubt AA faces bankcrupcy if you are offered a second coke !

The catering looks so-so, but you mention it is good, which is most important.

    Thanks for sharing.

    • Well, I marked it as good because of the pre arrival snack that was unbelievably argentinean and reeeally tasty!

The lunch service was ok, but it could have been better.

  • Thanks for sharing this FR

The behavior of the latin FA is a shame :(

    • Yeah...

I called her the latin because she was the only crew member who spoke spanish fluently with a caribbean accent.

  • Thanks for sharing!

EZE indeed looks great, it's awesome how better airports in LatAm are getting! The product looks good, and the empanada tasty, I would have felt outraged by that FAs attitude, luckily I haven't been given a no when asking for a second serving.

  • Thanks for this FR.

The meals look surprisingly tasty for AA!

Too bad for the nasty latin FA, otherwise you'd have had a better souvenir of the flight.

  • Thanks for this comprehensive report, the cold cuts on the second serving seem tasty and fresh.

Shame for the latin FA :( She should be the one who is retiring ^^

  • Thanks for this nice report :D !

  • Thanks for this new FR. Very nice photos and comprehensive views of the airport, cabins, aso...a complete FR as if you had written plenty before ;)

A full can...that's luxury by US carriers standards ;)
