After a few hours layover in Kahului, it was time to take my first flight with Hawaiian on their Boeing 717 for a short hop across to Honolulu.
To reduce my layover time after arriving with Delta from LAX, the kind gate agents moved me to an earlier flight for no extra charge and managed to get a window seat despite a rather busy flight.
Boarding N492HA, a 17.5 year old 717-200, named 'Ewa Ewa'. This airframe was originally delivered to Midwest Airlines in September 2004 and spend almost 4 years ins torage at Victorville prior to entering service with Hawaiian in 2012.

Seat 7A for the short island hop today.

Short delay in departing due to luggage being loaded and we were on our way to RW2 for a powerful but bumpy departure.

Inflight service consisted of a cup of passion fruit, orange and guava juice or water. I noticed a number of deadheading crew were not offered a drink and excluded from any service….

Views as we head across to HNL.

Parked next to a company 717.

Love HA's livery and so nice to see a 717 report! Those new seats look super thin so I guess it's good all inter-island flying is short. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Kévin, yeah pretty comfortable for the short flight. Sure I have some old 717 pictures with DL too, will have to upload them!
