To fulfill every Avgeek's dream, I decided it was time to book SXM with KLM, just to stand on Maho Beach!
I flew in from Glasgow on the KL1474 the day previous and enjoyed an overnight stay in Amsterdam before catching the KL729 direct from AMS to SXM with the Airbus A330-200, PH-AOM. So here she is…

Due to my Platinum status, I was able to select a seat in Economy Comfort free of charge. View from seat 7A.

Captain announced a flight time of just over 9 hours, pushback on time and soon on our way to the departure runway.

After around an hour, lunch was served. I do like the KLM meatballs and mash served in economy. I notice dessert has now been changed to a small cake.

Most of the flight was directly over the Atlantic ocean, not much to see.

Before landing, another meal was served, no choice this time - pasta salad and pizza. Dessert included this time

On approach to SXM….

Over the famous Maho Beach.

Always love deplaning via stairs on a widebody. Nice ride over on the PH-AOM.

Views from Avgeek heaven….

Thank you for this report. A quite good product on-board.

Awesome report, love flying KLM and SXM is the best avgeek holiday!
Great report! Fantastic that you were able to get to SXM right before the pandemic! I've been meaning to go for years, but never had an opportunity even when I lived on the East coast of the US (not many flight options). Now I'll probably wait until my son is a bit older so we can do Maho Beach together...where he won't fly away LOL.
IME those older KL 330 cabins are super comfortable, even if the IFE is a bit outdated.
Thanks for sharing!
Yeah I was lucky to tick that from my list before covid made an appearance! I think all the KLM 330s have had the seats and IFE 'upgraded' to those of the 777 / 787s.
