Was really excited to take this flight to Dubai, my first 777 flight since March 2020 due to COVID and it was also my birthday!
I had already flown in from LHR with Air France to catch the overnight flight from CDG to DXB. For arrival in Dubai, we were expected to provide a negative PCR and complete arrival documentation, a small price to pay for such a treat.
At check in, Air France offered some discounted seats for Business and Premium Economy. PE was around £150 if I recall.
Spent a couple of hours in the lounge at CDG, despite restrictions in place, the bar and food selection was now self service.

Boarding slightly behind schedule. Taking advantage of the upgrade offer due to my Skyteam Platinum, I choose seat 12L in PE. Air France PE cabin is arranged in a 2-3-2 layout. 12K also remained empty.

Boarding the Air France, Boeing 777-200ER, F-GSPF. I like that AF are now naming their aircraft, like KLM do. This is Compiègne, delivered to Air France in March 1999. Arranged in a 3 class layout, fitted with 312 seats.

Passing through the business class cabin.

My seat for the overnight flight, 12L.

Pre-departure glass of champagne. Water at each seat with a pillow and blanket also.

Comfort pack provided with the basic toothbrush, socks etc.

Lining up for takeoff, I forget the runway in use that evening.

Rotating out of CDG and climb out. I'd really missed the sound of those GE90's.

Cabin crew on this flight were very friendly and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. I was surprise that (unlike KLM) there was no acknowledgement of it being my birthday - on the flight from LHR and this one. Usually KLM provide a nice postcard and some extra gifts when flying on your birthday.
I can't recall the dinner options however I chose the chicken in a mustard sauce with mashed potatoes which was really tasty. Washed down with some more champagne and white wine. We passed an area of some rather rough turbulence however, we were soon out of it and the rest of the flight was really smooth.

Cabin view from the last row of economy as the lights were dimmed for a few hours sleep.

Before long, the sun started to rise.

Pre arrival breakfast was served.

The flight was over too soon and we were already beginning the descent and approach into Dubai (with some rather nice views of the city). A smooth touchdown and ahead of schedule.

Hi KLM777300ER, nice report with great photos! I always love a good cabin shot.
Yes, indeed. The new normal. I'm totally fine with it, except when rules change so quickly and so often that it becomes impossible to keep up with sometimes. Hopefully things will stabilise by this summer!
Oops, I think you meant 2-4-2. Very decent upgrade price from Y to W
Nice to see champagne for PDBs in AF W. Back when I flew AF W regularly it was just water or orange juice, and originally no PDBs.
That is nice that KL do that for FB Plats! It might be more of a KL thing, though not sure since I haven't been a SkyTeam flyer in years.
This is the one area where AF Premium Economy experience can be improved. There should be some differentiation with the second meals from Economy--US carriers do it, but most European carriers seem to do the same as AF.
Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year!
Thanks Kevin, glad you enjoyed. Apologies, I did mean 2-4-2; written too late at night :)
