a french & english wedding
Hello all!
I believe I am the first one to report this route!
Today I will tell about this short flight between the very convenient city airport and Rennes, where a french friend was getting warried to an english girl! And I can tell you that our two nations might be close to each other, they are actually very far in terms of culture!
Fyling to the venue was either to Nantes with Easyjet from Stansted or London City Airport to Rennes which was:
A) closert to drive to the venue
B) from city airport, I said it but I will repeat it: it is very convenient from London
C) you get to claim Avios
In other words, Bob's your uncle (and I might add Fanny your auntie).
Flybe might be (no pun intended) a small low-cost airline, it has an app that is fairly well done, although not with the best of graphics.
Avios earned with this flight: 130

at london - city airport
My office was on the east end of town so I only left at about 1pm, about 45 min of tube and dlr would be enough to reach City Airport.
1 pm is about a tad too early to have some tea but my colleagues were forgiving me for such a faux pas. By the way, here was our common kettle for; I let you appreciate some of the finest english humour.

The DLR is not the most confortable of trains, it is also very lound but super easy to reach the airport - I wish I'd be the same with Heathrow and the long awaited Elizabeth line (the famous crossrail that has supposed to be inaugurated every year since 2016 lol).

Going through security is extremly fast and efficient, it has been designed for business men running late.
The duty free section is a tad congested, but again, not designed for the man on the street shopping.

Some Royalties we can run into over here..
The defibrilator is next to it.

The airport is also very much spotter friendly as the planes are parked very close to the windows.

The tail of our bird, with the new livery

onboard the dash8
Aircraft: Bombardier Dash 8 - 400
Registration: G-JEDU
Engines: 2x PW 15
Age: 19 Years
Layout: 78 seats

The other great thing is that you can board walking to the aircraft, as you can see the terminal building is litteraly next to it.
Our plane had a special heart livery, not sure why.

The Flybe cabin, that was confortable I must say for a low cost airline.

Here we go for the famous taxiing alongside the runway, and the Thames.

And take off! The sound is always VERY lound and impressive at take off on these little birds!

Turing south above South London.

Finally over the clouds where the service started. Flybe only offers a hard low-cost buy on board, which means even water isn't offered for free..

The menu could also be found on the onboard magazine, as you can see the selection is not exactly cheap.

Something sad, that I have never ever whitnessed happened behind us.
A girl started to shout very loudly and all of the sudden jumped from her seat to talk to the cabin crew member. She was asked to return back to her seat in preparation for landing and she screamed again.
When we landed and parked, the Gendarmerie was aleady next to the plane and we were asked to remain seated.
They boarded the aircraft and asked a guy and the girl to follow them.
We later learnt from the crew that the disgusting guy was abusing her sexually.
I really feel sorry till this day for the girl, as you wouldn't expect someone to start touching a perfect stranger, what an evil douchey person that bloke was.
I was really shocked, as you get to hear a lot about the metoo movement but rarely experience it.
Only after a good 30 min, after the guy being under arest were we allowed to unboard.

Thank you very much Chris for sharing this new oldie :)
It was to welcome you aboard :)
The guy harassing the girl is just amazing. How can someone do this, and in a plane??
Take care mate!
Hi Mate!
Thank you so much for your comment!
To be honnest I did expect nothing less!! We need some glam in this world!!!
Yes i was truely shocked by the guys behavior
Aaw Flybe, may they RIP!
I've missed seeing that fun purple livery...it was so short lived! They've said a few times they would re-start the company, but it doesn't seem that's likely to every happen.
Thanks for sharing!
Hey Kevin!
