Hi,
This short hop to Austria started at a grey autumn evening in fronto of Terminal 2 with some huge Audi advertising.

As I had no luggage to check in I quickly headed to the security check area. The First Class zone there only had the check in counters open while the dedicated security lane for First Class and Star Alliance Gold guests was already closed that evening. So I headed to one of the Business Class security checks where almost no queues were and consequently I was quickly airside. Terminal 2 was really very busy this evening with queues everywhere - in front of the restaurants, lounges etc. Luckily the somehow more hidden Senator Lounge at gate G24 had no queue at the entrance so I was quickly inside. However this lounge was also very crowded and it was hard to find a spare seat. It also looks like no more empty seats are used for covid distancing as all seats were possible to be used. I found an empty armchair and had some quick dinner.

In the last two weeks Lufthansa seams to have reintroduced self-service buffet for cold and hot drinks including beer again while wine and spirits still have to be ordered from the staff at the bar. Some cold snacks were available from the self-service buffet while a soup and warm meat dish were available from the staff at the bar.
I had some meat with potatao salad which tasted fine.

Soon I left the lounge and headed for gate G44 to find my Austrian A320 waiting.

Priority boarding started 5 minutes later and soon I was on board taking my window seat in row 3. Surprisingly no disinfection towels were distributed at the entrance. I learned this to be covid standard with all flights I took during the pandemic so far.

Next to us a LOT Embraer was getting ready to head for Warsaw.

Business Class was huge with 10 rows almost fully occupied. Seat pitch was fine although this old Airbus cabin definitely started to show signs of age like yellow/grey cabin walls etc.

A flight time of only 40 minutes was announced folowed by a nice and clearly understandable pre-recorded manual safety demonstration.
We passes some Lufthansa aircraft parked at the maintenance hangar area and soon departed into dark skies direction west.

Seat pocket contained a shop on board catalogues for non-EU flights and a nicely designed buy on board menu called 'Austrian Melangerie' for Economy Class.

Quickly a small snack tray was served from a trolley. The friendly cabin crew removed all plastic covers before handing over the trays - it looks like we are back to pre-covid standards. It was nice to have a real cloth napkin even on this short hop. The three different sandwiches and especially the Sacher style cake tasted very nice and were perfectly adequate for this very short flight to Vienna.

Some minutes later the drinks trolley followed and I had some white wine and water while there was even a choice between two different white wines - very nice for such a short flight.

Soon before we started descend the cabin crew came around offering coffee and tea from a small tray nicely powered into those small cute Austrian style cups placed on the meal tray.

Finally a nice farwell chocolate was handed over from a basket by the friendly crew.

We touched down exactly on time and parked next to another Austrian Airbus.
