Goodday,
While I'm usually off on weekends, I had to travel to Zurich for a dinner meeting (not the worst to be honest) with one of our clients and decided to book a flight with Lufthansa as they offered good rates on such short notice. It also meant that I'm finally getting to experience a flight on an Airbus A220-300 and a Mitsubishi Canadair CRJ900 of Swiss and Lufthansa Cityline as I took some detour on the way back to Amsterdam the next day.
See the itinerary I booked below.

Last leg
I just arrived from Munich with my previous flight and had about four hours to kill for my last flight to Amsterdam. Most European airlines are restoring their network to most destinations within Europe, however the frequency they fly to them is a lot to be desired and is definitely noticable with a one stop or more flight.
By now the airport was not too busy and took a photo of one of Frankfurt's social distancing matter by blocking one seat to maximize spacing between passengers.

While I did my best to spend my four hours, I decided to sit down somewhere quiet to do some work from home while having a view of this Airbus A319 of Lufthansa (D-AILL) named after the city of Marburg.

About 20 minutes before departure, I made my way to our gate and our flight would be performed by another Airbus A320neo.
D-AINM would do the honours of bringing us to Amsterdam. This bird is only 2 years old and is named after the German city of Freising. It is powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines and can carry up to 180 passengers in a two cabin-configuration.

Boarding started on time and my boarding card was rejected at first. Made my way to the ground attendant who blamed me for not responding to her call much earlier (I was not present at gate that time) as she had to confirm that I was old and capable enough to handle the emergency door. Very rude in her behaviour and Lufthansa definitely should improve her training as she was pretty rude to most passengers.
Eventually made my way down the jetbridge where we were greeted by two kind flight attendants who handed us some disinfection wipes to clean our seat….. Legroom is good, but far from great for an emergency exit and I feel some people will struggle getting to the emergency exit when a real emergency is engaged.

Cabin was going to be completely full, but managed to take a photo before they joined from the seats. The comfort of these ironing boards are non-existing and the only feature I liked is that you are able to find your literature at top and does not obstruct your legroom by having them in your seat pocket. The cabin however was very clean and brand new.

By this time one of the flight attendants came by to give us cards regarding the emergency door and asked us if we were willing to help them in case of an emergency, but did not give us any instruction on how to open it. (It's not the hardest to figure it out yourself, but it would definitely help with some people).

The disinfection wipe we received when boarding. A different brand compared to my previous flights, but did the job and the smell of alcohol was apparent in the entire cabin.

Pushback was engaged with a delay of twenty minutes due to the fact that a number of passengers did not show up and luggage had to be off-loaded. The safety demonstratrion was shown immediately on pushback and contained only on how to open and lock our seatbelt. For all other matters we were pointed to the safety instruction card….. Lufthansa so far has done it on all my flights and I feel it may be a jeopardy to flight safety.

Departure was from 25C with a delay of 25 minutes in westerly direction.

The usual Covid-19 service of Lufthansa appeared shortly after departure, which contained only a bottle of still water and you could find my opinion about it in a few of my previous flight reports and do not like the reasoning behind it as LH ignores the social distancing practises for J passengers.

The view of the cabin in flight.

After 15 minutes of cruise, we were already into approach to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and unfortunately we were scheduled for a landing on Runway 18R, which is the Polderbaan and would require a taxi of approximately 15 to 20 minutes…. You gotta love these long taxi times in Amsterdam.

The landing was an absolutely smacker and felt like we dropped 3 meters straight down and did cause a lot of reactions from the passengers….. I've had hard landing, but this one was an absolutely smacker and the long taxi journey was about to start. Disembarking went chaotic as most people ignored their disembarking procedures and I won't bother you too much with the rest, so I'll sign out with this last photo.

I had previously thought the NEO's newer seats were better than the crappy ironing board NEK seats on the CEOs, but now that I see the side pics in your report, they look almost thinner than the older NEK seats, and not comfortable at all. In your opinion, are they comparable or are the NEO seats less comfortable?
Hi Kevin,
Thanks for stopping by. I've never been a massive fan of Lufthansa's cabin on their Airbus fleet, but the seats on their 320neo is absolutely abysmal and a downgrade if I compare them with their A320ceo's.....
Wow, interesting and good to know! Thanks
