We arrived the previous night from Singapore on Qantas and we spent the short night at the Hotel Ibis Sydney Airport. Very early the next morning we took a cab or the hotel's shuttle, I can't remember to the airport terminal to check-in for our flight to Auckland.
The airport is empty and this flight to Auckland is the very first one to leave Sydney. We are checked-in rapidly and as we are being checked-in the flight is actually getting empty as as we are being processed a cyclone is heading straight for Tahiti. Oli, the cyclone will do quite some damage to Bora-Bora, Tahiti, Tubuai… Qantas and Air Tahiti Nui are offering the customers to postpone their trip if they wish to. Us, tahitians we want to go back as soon as possible and we are a little stressed out as the Air Tahiti Nui flight left Papeete for Auckland 24 hours before scheduled time to evacuate the Airbus. The flight is usually done as a day turn but exceptionally the aircraft and crew will rest in AKL.
After Check-in, we go through security and it goes real fast as there are not a lot of people at this time of the day.
In the boarding area the tahitians are talking about the cyclone only as it is now on the Society Islands and is now heading towards the Austral Islands.
We board on time and our Boeing 737-800 is registered in New Zealand ZK-ZQC. The aircraft and crew are owned by Qantas owned new zealand airline, Jetconnect.
We are welcomed on board the Boeing 737 by 2 cabin attendant, including the Chief Purser. They all wear the Qantas uniform.
The flight is not full because of the cyclone Oli but we I believe the load factor was around 75%.

    A bientot : )

    Bon produit QF !
