Flight routing

Hi,

thanks for stopping by this report covering the first leg of my journey from Budapest, Hungary to Aarhus, Denmark. Since there’s no direct flight between our capital city and the small town well-known for it’s university located in the western part of Denmark I first went to Copenhagen which I already used as a transfer airport several times. Both Ryanair and Norwegian operates this route: obviously the Irish LCC is cheaper and their early morning flight was convenient for me.

The scheduled departure time today was 07:10. Since I know BUD Airport like the back of my hand, I arrived to the airport at 06:15, cleared security and sat down in the lounge for a quick breakfast at 06:20. Yes, five minutes after I jumped out from the car. Huge thanks to my MasterCard: I can use the priority security lane and the MasterCard lounge at no extra cost.

The lounge is located in the SkyCourt, on the gallery level. It’s fairly close to the gates as it’s exactly between the two terminals: T2A and T2B. Some pictures about this area:

The lounge offers no more than the average European walk-in or Priority Pass lounges but it’s totally fine for having a quick breakfast or dinner when you have some time to kill before boarding. There’s a variety of juices, coffees, bakery goods, pastry, yoghurts, cereals and rice pudding, as well as olives, meatballs, tortillas filled with spinach and „bolognese”. This morning there weren’t any hot food (for example soup).

Some Hungarian champagne and wine are also available.

There’s a moderate selection of alcoholic drinks such as liquors, gin, whisky, vodka and Martini.

I had a look on the screen which displayed my gate for the CPH flight: A1 (that’s the closest to the lounge, big luck) and as boarding has already started, I made my way there.

Last call, hurry up!

Note: boarding from gates A1-A2-A3 are by bus boarding. Am I the only one who thinks this area is way too small for three gates?

The aircraft was a 13-year-old B737-800, registered EI-DPM.

My seat was 2F, which is a bulkhead seat due to the location of the galley of Ryanair cabins. The legroom is adequate, not as good as at Wizz’s first row seats but much better than most of the seats here on this 737. The view from my seat:

While pushback was at 07:12, our captain announced a flight time of 1h and 30 minutes. We departed into the sky at 07:16. Sunrise after take-off:

I fell asleep shortly after take-off to get some extra nap because I knew it would be a long day ahead. Got up for the „start of descent” announcement at around 8:25. We had some nice views above the Øresund strait.

We landed at 08:46 for a scheduled arrival time of 09:10, taxied to the low cost terminal (Gates F). I was among the first to get out of the plane. The weather was not the nicest:

I ran into the terminal building from the rain. This is how it looked like:

I continued my way through the new part (E gates) of the airport.

Spoiler: at this time I had 3 hours until the next flight but I didn't have a ticket yet.

Thanks for reading and see you at the CPH-AAR report!

Conclusion

Conclusion: If you’re flying from BUD at the early morning rush hour I recommend that you arrive at the airport sooner than I did as there can be looooong lines sometimes. The flight was on-time, quite comfortable for a short sleep so I have nothing to complain about.
