Good afternoon,
This is the second and final instalment of my June routing from Vienna to Paris, return, this flight is also on board FlyNiki, but before I get to this said FR, let me take you for a few minutes to the Bourget International Airshow and Exhibition which was held this year in June. This was an opportunity to meet some friends from FR and so killing 2 birds with one stone with this trip.
As said previously; the weather wasn’t exactly conducive to planes flying around for the general public with intermittent rain showers and low visibility. Nonetheless it was still fun to go. One of the complaints I have every year is how crowded the airshow grounds are on the public days. Lucky are those who have the opportunity to go during the pro days, not only this but they also benefit from seeing more static and flying aircraft than on the public days!
Here are some shots I took during the show, apologies for the quality, again my camera lens has a technical problem at the time.
As embarrassing as it is, 6 years later, this I the closest I’ve ever gotten to an A380 and I’ve yet to fly on one! The impressions are as always fantastic and the feeling of volumetric proportions sets in quickly. The wingspan in itself is ridiculous when you consider the fact that it is longer in length than that of the fuselage! Absolutely stunning and a feast to the eyes to watch it slowly push back and to be able to picture it with all the angles
Various other birds which I do not know the names by heart, which have been extensively reported about in previous reports of the airshow in June
I’m particularly drawn to this one which I happen to own a 1:200 diecast copy of
An iconic aircraft for Air France, the beautiful 747
Anyways, right below here you will be able to play a video I recorded of the airshow as well as the flight report itself, again it is not short so feel free to make use of that fast forward button ;)
This time we are flying home together with my wife of 2 days! We have to prepare for the religious wedding in Bratislava so no time to spare!
Spotting is always limited from T3 and coupled with the kind of “stealth mode” you have to put yourself in to avoid the lingering eyes of the French police…. Yes ladies and gents, taking photos on CDG grounds is a crime and I believe you can get fined for it.
Enter 737-40
Beautiful Concorde (I also have her, in diecast :) )
Our bird is there and on time, this time an A320, the “flying fly”!
This time I don’t hesitate to take photos, I just decided that I will ignore the security people and just aim straight for the stairs, they aren’t coming to Vienna anyways so I’ll be safe inside the plane!
Wingview
No luxurious EE row seat for us this time, so here’s a photo of the actual pitch, pretty tight
Cabin filling up
Air Méditerranée A321
Our secret agent’s new guinea pig, Syphax airlines :)
Terminal camembert, one of my all time favorites
I believe this is a FedEx A300 or A310
Aegan A320 to Athens
And we have liftoff folks!
Lots of rather interesting cloud formations will be keeping me company on our initially clib, turbulence will be kept minimal however
I quite like this one for some reason, maybe it’s the idyllic winglet!
Dinner, with a demonstration of my abilities to get second dibbs on sandwiches right away :-D Sadly they are both the same kinds but I did get 2 drinks! (And a coffee later)
Life’s pretty good when flying high with a drink in your hands rather than on your laps
My signature, inside the sandwich!
The sun sets rather quickly as we are racing against it and before we know it, the wing disappears in total darkness in the night
After a pleasant 1 hour and 45 minutes flight our bird graceful adorns RWY 10 for a kiss landing and soon after we reach our parking stall, relieved that I will be able to freely take photos since we are deplaning by paxbus! (Hasn’t happened to me in a while at VIE)
The newly opened Star Wars terminal in Vienna imposes a rather long walk for passengers arriving from the far side of the old terminal; especially this late at night; it’s not much fun; and the corridors are rather unappealing. The baggage area is new, modern I suppose but nothing special compared to the beautiful high ceiling areas of other airports such as YYZ or HKG, the ceiling here just feels really low!
Now this is a pretty innovative way to show arrivals in my opinion!
Follow me to platform 4 where our bus to Bratislava awaits us! (Free wifi on board too!)
Thank you for reading, again full video report below
Thanks for sharing this FR
A lot of nice pictures at the Air Show
A pleasant fly with flyniki with two sandwiches and three beverages : great !
See you soon
There are slightly too many pictures of the Paris Air Show, and they are too good to scroll down past them ;)
As far as I know, the fine for taking a highly confidential picture of an A320 on CDG's tarmac is 450 EUR, and that is one of the most ridiculous prohibitions I know of in France in the name of security.
Your picture of CDG1 is that of the best moment : when you at last taxi away from that un-improveable terminal that was unfortunately not dismantled (it has been seriously considered).
Free wifi on the bus to Bratislava ? wow, that is great when you have nothing else to do !
Free wifi is also limited to 15 minutes in CDG2, and that stinks. Thanks for this FR !
