Introduction
Decided to try flying to Johor Baru then make my way back to Singapore from there instead of taking a direct bus.

Check-in
I took a bus to KLIA2 from KL Sentral. It was much cheaper than the KLIA Ekspres and I had time to spare. The bus was pretty comfortable and I actually highly recommend it.

KLIA2 is a busy airport indeed.

Walked into the terminal and through the shopping area.

A giant KLIA2 sign before the Check-In counters.

Got my boarding pass using a self-service kiosk.

I proceeded to queue to get my details checked but when it got to my turn, the counter staff informed me that it wasn't necessary for domestic passengers.

Bags were checked for weight before entering airside and the staff were quite stringent. Crossed though security for domestic flights and went towards the gate.

Flights from KLIA2.

Having a look throughout the terminal. It's narrow and uninspiring.

Arrived at my gate early and binged some shows on my phone.

Plane hasn't arrived yet.

In fact, the plane did not arrive till 5 minutes before departure.

Boarding was finally called and a long queue formed. I joined the queue as well and finally I'm boarding.

Long queue into the small plane.

On-Board
Legroom is well… poor. I'm 180cm(5'11") so the seat in front of me is practically in my knees. Luckily, flight time is only an hour.

The seatback contents include a safety card, an entertainment magazine and a duty-free magazine.

Once the plane leveled off, I popped by the toilet. Simple toilet but the floor was quite wet.

Took a shot from the back of the plane as I went back to my seat.

I sat down, buckled my seat beat and the pilot announced that we were beginning descent. It was such a quick flight indeed.

disembarkation
Once we were at the gate, it was a quick scramble to get bags and disembark.

Exiting the plane.

Bye little A320.

Senai is a small airport but it seemed to be nicer than KLIA2.

Baggage claim
Very few passengers were picking up bags from the carousel.

Waited for the bus to the checkpoint.

Not entirely sure if there's a difference in legroom between Thai AirAsia and AirAsia itself, but I usually do not have that much trouble with their legroom (in LCC terms) if I compare it with many other competitors like VJ for example and I'm 1.83cm myself. Thanks for reporting! Just out of curiousity, but how long would a bus approximately take on the same route?
Hi ThomasDutch,
Thank you for reading my report. Take a bus from KL City Center to Singapore would be around 6-8 hours depending on traffic. The time it took me to complete the trip by plane saved me an hour or two at most and it was much more of a hassle to connect between different transport modes.
Yours sincerely,

The problem with legroom in the standard seats on Air Asia is that the seat are kind of thick compared to other airlines that have similarly dense cabins who use slimline seats. So, while 29" pitch should be ok for average height like 175-180cm, it feels less spacious and you end up getting pushed up to the seat in front, at least that's my experience with Air Asia at 178cm. But like you said, for a 1h flight, it's totally fine. And honestly, I like that Air Asia don't have ironing boards for seats...it's easier on the back.
Thanks for sharing!
I totally agree with this! xD
