Hello and welcome to another flight report! This time I will be flying American Eagle in first class from Durango to Dallas. Durango airport is probably one of the smallest commercial airports in the US, which made for a unique experience. Additionally, the last few miles to the airport are on a dirt road (yes, you heard correctly!).

I breezed through check-in and immediately went to the TSA checkpoint.

There was no line as it was 30 minutes prior to departure, so I was through in a matter of minutes. I didn’t have to wait long before boarding commenced. Soon enough, I was walking across the tarmac towards our CRJ900.

I was greeted by a friendly flight attendant as I walked onboard. I settled into my seat (2A). The cabin is set up in a 1-2 arrangement, which gives the “A” seats both a window and and aisle! The seats are comfortable if not a bit narrow. There was a thin blanket at the seat when I arrived.

The Mesa operated plane I was on was an ex US Airways Express one and was 15 years old at the time of publication. The cabin was certainly showing its age, though it was in good condition. As I was settling in I was offered a pre departure beverage of choice compared to my last AA flight, on which only water was offered.

Not even 10 minutes passed and the door was closed. After a short taxi, we were airborne and treated with some great views of the Colorado mountains as well as the rising sun.

The lavatory door was not properly latched so it opened during takeoff.

After take off, we were offered a drink-I had a tea and some water. Then, the snack basket was passed around, which had some decent choices. I had chips and corn nuts.

Later on, the flight attendant passed around the snack basket again. I was offered 4 refills throughout the 1 hour 30 minute flight. The flight attendant was friendly and efficient. On our descent we had some great views of the Texas countryside.
