Review of British Airways flight from London to Brussels in Economy

Just a quick recap of a British Airways flight I took back in January 2019, flying from LHR to BRU. I had arrived from my Madrid trip the previous day, which saw me on both a BA 777-200 & IB A340-600, now it was back to a less glamorous way of flying around Europe by comparison.

I spent the night at the Terminal 4 Premier Inn hotel, and in the early hours of January 20th 2019, I was off on my next European day trip. Catching the complimentary Heathrow Express from T4 to T5. A short 10 minute journey.  The service is about £13 one way only to London Paddington station from London Heathrow, but inter-terminal changes are complimentary.

Getting to London Heathrow Terminal 5, I went straight to the security check point, as I had already checked in online on my BA app. Saving me queuing time and the time I got to the security check point, it was quiet and I managed to get through in less than 10 minutes.

My Airbus A319 for my ride to Belgium was to be G-EUPD. The 19 year old aircraft was delivered in November 1999, making it one of the older Airbus jets in the European BA fleet. The aircraft had flown from June 2012 until November 2017 as one of the nine "London 2012 Olympic Dove" aircraft and when it returned to the BA livery, it was also updated in its cabin for the now standard 143 black slimline seats which is now common across the LHR based Airbus A319 fleet. Despite the amount of flying I've done with BA over the last few years, I never got the chance to fly any of the Dove aircraft whilst they were in their golden livery.

We boarded the plane on time, I made the most of my priority Group 3 boarding. I seated myself in Seat 21A. Behind the wing of the plane and five rows from the back of the plane. As a OneWorld Ruby member, I get FREE seat selection from British Airways 7 days before I fly, an essential perk for me as I am someone who must always have a window seat, given BA's cheapest European seat selections are £7, making 10 flights a year on BA alone saves me £70 annually, which covers me for a day trip to Amsterdam, Brussels, Dublin, Edinburgh or even Berlin!

As one of the first planes to depart Terminal 5, and London Heathrow for that matter! We got on the way pretty sharp! A small que had formed at the runway, but it wasn't long a wait before we were jetting off to Brussels!

We probably spent about 30-35 minutes airborne, making up time in the schedule, something I won't complain about on an outbound flight!

It is amusing to think that Alex Cruz thinks he can do "Buy on Board" and get a profit on such a flight like London-Brussels. But the BA cabin crew did their rounds, and out of curiosity, I tried a limited edition tea- Twining's Glow Tea, containing a herbal blend of standard Green Tea, Aloe Vera, Cucumber and Strawberry.

Unfortunately, the flight quickly came to its conclusion as we touched down at Brussels National Airport. We'd been flying about 30-35 minutes. Which was then followed by a taxi to our stand at the non-Schengen Area. Parking next to an Airbus A330 of Hianian Airlines.
