Review of SilkAir flight from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore in Economy

INTRODUTCION

It was a fun four days here in Malaysia, and now it's time to fly back to Manila and spend a few more weeks there before taking three more flights home to Calgary, Canada. This flight was actually an award ticket, so the total amount paid for the flights was only RM65 (about CAD$21), plus 12.5k KrisFlyer miles. The airlines that will be flown today are SilkAir and Singapore Airlines.

KUALA LUMPUR INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

I arrived at the airport at 5:50AM, which was close to the check-in deadline time thanks to waking up late. The check-in counters were fairly empty and I asked if the flight was full. The agent said was not even 75% to capacity and I requested to move to an empty row from my original seat, in order to stretch out a little bit. 

Unless your flight is on Malaysia Airlines or select other carriers, Silk Air operates out of the Satellite Terminal. To get there, the AeroTrain is the way to go. Take note that this adds time to get to your gate if you're in a hurry to get there. 

The gate opened on-time as stated on the boarding pass, however once everyone was inside, an announcement was made indicating that the flight was delayed by over 45 minutes due to the aircraft departing late from Singapore.

ONBOARD AND INFLIGHT

Settled in seat 26A. The last five rows of the aircraft were completely empty. The cabin was nice and clean, with the colours complimenting the mood and atmosphere onboard.

The taxi to the runway did not take too long and soon after, the aircraft was on its way to Changi Airport.

Initial takeoff rotation wasn't turbulent, however a few minutes into the climb, it started to get a little bumpy.

It was a nice day for flying, and just 10 minutes after takeoff, the seatbelt sign was turned off and the inflight service began. 

The flight time was scheduled to only take about 45 minutes, so only drinks were served on this flight. To wake myself up, I ordered a coffee and apple juice. A wet towel was also given to all passengers during the beverage service.

I was planning to purchase a SilkAir A320 model aircraft, however on this flight the duty-free sales wasn't available. After the drinks were cleared, I handed my flight logbook to the crew.

Silk Air studio was also available as the inflight entertainment. The selection wasn't that extensive but for this flight, it was sufficient enough. 

Mood lighting was turned on for the remainder of the flight until descent. 

DESCENT AND ARRIVAL

Not long after, the aircraft began its initial descent into Changi Airport.

It was a good, sunny day here in Singapore.

Landed at Singapore at exactly 9AM in the morning, and arrived at the gate just 10 minutes later. Total delay during arrival was 35 minutes.

My logbook was returned, and I was also given a Silk Air pen as a souvenir and thank you for flying with them. Surnames blurred for privacy reasons.
