After finishing all my work in Taiwan, I was heading again to Hong Kong and planned to stay behind a few days until after Christmas. I arrived at Taipei Airport a bit early again with 2.5 hours prior to the departure.

I quickly checked my luggage and went through the security check even though I had a lot of time. My gate was assigned at B7. When I arrived, the waiting area was almost empty but I decided to stay there until boarding.

At 10:30am, my plane arrived from Seoul Incheon Airport. B-HLV, an A330-330 delivered to Cathay Pacific Airways in September 2003. This aircraft type is equipped with short haul cabin configuration with 317 seats (J24/Y293). This is the same aircraft type that I took from Hong Kong to Nagoya in Summer. The plane was still wearing the old livery.

Boarding was called at 11:42am, I was queuing at the green member line and onboard very soon after the Business class and elite members. My seat was in 70A, the seat was the fixed shell seat which was introduced in 2007. Not long after I settle down, a gentlemen appeared and sat next to me.

Pushback was commenced at 12:06pm. Flight time was expected to be 1 hour and 23 minutes.

Taxi to runway.

At 12:22pm, we takeoff from RWY05R

Shortly after takeoff, we made a 180 degree turn and kept flying along the coastline.

The entire Taipei Taoyuan airport can be seen clearly.

Then I found a Hong Kong drama series which was about the lives of the pilot in Hong Kong.

Lunch was served at 12:42pm, twenty minutes after takeoff. The meal composed of a Braised pork with chicken on rice, broccoli, carrot and a bottle of water. And this was the only choice for the meal.

At 13:07pm, announcement from the flightdeck that the descend into Hong Kong airport has began and the landing time was expected at 13:45pm. Seat belt sign was turned on at 13:24pm. Somehow I fell asleep but managed to wake up as the wheels touched the ground.

We landed on RWY07L at 13:53pm. Total flight time was 1 hour and 31 minutes.

Finally we parked at gate 29. Last view of the aircraft.

Thanks for reading!
The meal on this CX flight (flight duration 2:20) in Eyconomy looks much more attractive than those offered meals in Business Class AZ ROM JNB. CX is ok overall, although there is a considerable distance between SQ and CX.
No choice given and no side dishes? That's a bit disappointing from CX. Definitely if I compare it with my experience in January between BKK & Sin (about similar in time) when we got two side dishes plus a choice of meal.
