Another new airline for my log. Wizzair!

photo 20

Been wanting to do this for a while but the prices & timings haven't lined up well. Until June 2018 came along!

Return for £88 over 2 days. Out on a brand new A321 and back on a staple A320. Perfection!
The flight came after I had moved from Burnham to Christchurch. So my journey went from 45 minutes to 2hr 45min. Ouch! Especially as I had to leave at 3am!
Non the less, made it to London Luton, with plenty of time. 1 hour & 10 minutes before the gate was due to close.

Despite the building works to renovate the airport, I made it through security in good time, about 15-20 minutes. Then I just had to beeline right for my gate.

photo 3

Getting to the right area, I found my Airbus A321 waiting for me. It was HA-LTA, the first of the Airbus A321 in Wizzair's ever modernising fleet.

There was a bit of a que at the A321 during the open board. But as I had a fully charged Go-Pro, a clear sunny day- I was far from bored or complaining!!!

The interior was nice, clean, colourful and modern!
Slimline design which is becoming standard in modern cabins and Wizz chose a bright Blue/Pink combination.

photo 8

I was sat near the back of the plane as the seating was cheaper than towards the front of the A321.

photo 9

We pushed back about 15 minutes behind schedule, but with in no time at all we had taxied, lined-up and taken to the sky!

I decided for my breakfast to go with the Donut & Coffee at 4.50EUR (£3.80) it seemed like a good deal.

photo 13

Rest of the flight was uneventful, I had a read through the Magazine, seeing what Wizz had been up to and what they recommended in various cities on their network.

photo 12photo 15

Not wanting to miss a trick- I also bought a Wizzair Airbus A321 model!

Rest of the flight rolled on smoothly…

We came into Budapest on time, and we exited on a remote stand which took us onto a bus.

photo 21photo 18

The bus drove us around to the Passport Control and to enter Budapest for a short Hungarian Adventure!
But I do want to give a shout to my main reason for coming here- The AEROPARK.

But my biggest & best moment was finally doing something I've wanted to do since I was about 7 years old: Getting inside a Tupelov TU-154!

Conclusion

Wizzair- If you can get a decent base fare with them, they are good value for money. Nothing extremely fancy. Buy on board is a good selection and I enjoyed my snack and was happy to get a model A321. The new cabin interior is standard for most airlines in the late 2010s and I was happy with it for my 2 hour journey time. The bright but matching colours added some character to the plane. Would certainly fly again with them to Eastern Europe!

Luton Airport- Still going through lots of construction, improving and renovating. Makes getting around frustrating at times and also you never know what changes to expect if you aren't a regular (my last flight prior to this trip was in November 2016). The multistory car park makes for great photography opportunities if you got a minute or two spare. I was able to buy a pre-park ticket at a reasonable £30 cost for 2 days (one night).

Budapest Airport- Modern and has a brilliant viewing deck. Security was a nice breeze although a short wait was involved due to my A321 with 220 passengers coming in alongside an Emirates 777 with a good 300+ people.

Aeropark- A MUST for any Aviation Enthusiasts that pass through Budapest Airport, a rare glimpse for me as I never really got to see Soviet airliners much. Was really satisfying to get inside a TU-154!

  • Thanks for this FR.

A pretty good deal, but the commute time to LTN is horrendous.

The A321 looks pretty good in Wizz livery, hopefully the model does too!

Wow you really made me want to visit the AeroPark.

    • Thank you! I moved house about a month before I flew so my journey from Burnham was 1 hour roughly and from Christchurch is now 4 hours.

I will fly from LTN & STN still, but it will only be on rare occasions from now on. LGW is now going to be less frequent but I am still going to be flying from SOU & LHR quite a bit!
