Hi,
Newark Terminal C is very crowded and old fashioned - not the best place to transit for long in my opinion.
Unfortunately United First Class does not include lounge access which is rather strange.
Only US carriers exclude lounge access for their premium customers - something rarely found somewhere else worldwide.
Lucky enough I arrived at my gate just 25 minutes before boarding started and did some spotting until then.

United boarding is strictly enforced by 5 different groups and luckily I was withing the first group travelling First Class.
First Class was completely full on this flight and I took my window seat in this modern 737-900 featuring the new Boeing cabin.

The seat was wide and pitch fine - however I found the sitting position rather uncomfortable and also strangely no foot rest installed which would help.

As boarding continued the rather friendly crew took pre departure drink orders - basically you could order the drink of your choice.
I had some still water which came in a blue plastic cup.

We pushed back perfectly on time and after a manual safety demonstration we departed for this 2hrs25min flight down to Miami.

About 20 minutes into the flight hot towels were offered and drink and meal orders taken.
There was no menu but you could choose between a cold chicken salad or some paella. I decided for the paella.

After some more time passed by your ordered drink was served to you with a bowl of warm nuts.
I had some cranberry juice.

Before being able to finish the nuts dinner was already served on one tray - for me I can't see the point for this rush on such a medium range flight were plenty of time exists.

The dinner tray included a salad, bread and a chocolate cake.
More drink refills were offered frquently and I ended my meal with a cup of tea.

The rest of the flight passed by calm and we descended into Miami with some great sunset views.

Nice report! It looks like UA needs to get a bit more creative with their F class meals. I saw a few reports last year where the same meal you had was on offer!
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for this FR.
Even transfering from an international flight you could not get into the lounge ?
Decent service onboard, too bad it was rushed...
Thanks. Actually this is the same that I thought when receiving the meal :D
I have also seen this Paella in other reports before!
No also transferring from international made no change in Lounge access. I would only have been allowed as Gold Status member or for the regular Access fee
