Welcome back, to this the 4th report of my trip to India.
Here's the flight list

After a few days of relaxing in Jodhpur it was time to fly back to Delhi for an overnight stay before the next flight to Kulu.
But first here's a few tourist bonus pictures of the Blue City and it's fort:

We were driven to the aIrport from our hotel with plenty of time to spare. Outside the terminal our bookings were checked by a security guard and the again just inside the entrance before our suitcases were scanned.

The inside of the terminal is quite small with just a few little shops.

There are 5 check-in desks in the terminal each with the flight numbers hung up by each of the desks.

The check-in process was a little old fashioned, the bags being wheeled off by the staff, no baggage belts.
The security check was through a small doorway to the side and it didn't take long to get through.

The departure lounge was also rather small and quite busy are there were a number of flights due to depart around the same time.

There was only one small shop which sold mainly snacks and a few warm bits of warm food. I chose to have a kind of toasted sandwich with some spices in it. The total price was R150 (about €2).

The departure board was a TV screen which scrolled through the days flights (rather slowly) and was showing a 30 min delay.

There wasn't much to do but wait. Other flights were departing with no proper announcements and at times I wondered if our flight was boarding.
The delay was increasing and eventually turned into about an hours delay.
Finally our flight began to board through the gate

We walked across the tarmac to the aircraft and boarded by stairs

I took my window seat over the wing

The leg room was fine for the short flight.

In the seat pocket was the usual safety card (no magazine today)

The cabin crew performed the safety briefing and soon we were taking off.
Shortly after the meal service began.
We were served a rice and dal dish which tasted great which I had come to expect from Air India. There was also cucumber salad and a dessert.

There was also a card which we could use to claim a "free" gift (as long as you wanted to pay all the expensive taxes!)

The short flight was soon over and we were arriving in Delhi.

We arrived at the terminal and were thanked for flying with Air India.

After collecting our bags we left the terminal and took the metro to our hotel.

Conclusion

Despite the delay this short flight was relatively good.

The crew were polite and friendly and the catering was just as good as the outbound flight which I enjoyed very much.

  • Thanks for this new report . Delays are quite frequent with Air India . The inflight meal looks very good, I am reading you from Jaipur and want to come back to see jodhpur that looks very nice.

    • Thanks for reading. Delays do seem to happen quite often. Of the 4 flights I took with AI I think 3 of the, were delayed! The food is my favourite part of flying with AI.

Jodhpur is well worth a visit, the fort is really impressive with a great view down onto the old blue city. We chose to go there as we had previously been to Jaipur and enjoyed that too.

  • Being an Indian I am following your series closely....

I have visited all of Rajasthan and I think mehrangarh fort is the best along with amber fort of jaipur

Air India has thus delay prob mostly due to fog(read smog) in Delhi

Waiting for your kulu bhuntar leg. Heard that the bhuntar aurport is very pretty

    • Thanks for reading. yes I think pollution issues in Delhi could have been the course, although I don't remember it being too bad. There was some fog issues on one of the Kulu flights (soon to follow!)

  • There were IFE on this flight ?
