Check In:
FlyDubai flights depart out of Terminal 2 in Dubai International Airport, this terminal though caters mainly to low cost or regional airlines is dedicated for flydubai operations. The terminal recently underwent massive renovations and makeover for developing it as the dedicated terminal for flydubai services.
The check in was smooth and uneventful. The check in counters had opened on time for the flight departing at 12 PM out of DXB.

The airport is fairly small and congested as compared to the large sprawling terminals Dubai international airport has. Terminals 1 and 3 are massive but Terminal 2 is nothing compared to them in all terms but recent upgrades have infact made the airport better. The security and customs finished quickly and had about one hour before departure. The Duty free selection and the F&B options in this terminal is fairly less.
Boarding:
The airport being really small doesn't require you to walk for long to your boarding gate. The boarding call for flydubai soon began and the process were carried out in a very professional manner though lack of seating space remains a major issue at this massively congested airport. The passengers were bused to the flight and the cabin crews welcomed passengers with a smile.
The boarding was completed on time and hence the push back was right on schedule.
On-board:
I've flown on other Low cost carriers before this as well and hence was expecting a similar service on board flydubai as well.
The fllydubai flight that i was flying on was delivered to them way back in 2009 but was well maintained had seemed to be pretty much clean. The leg space offered was decent in-spite of flydubai being a budget carrier.

Take-off
The FZ524 departed from Dubai international right on time. The cabin announcements were done in haste and cabin crews seemed to be tired on a fresh leg and lacked all the liveliness and service efficiency.

Services:
Flydubai being budget carrier offers everything to you at an extra cost. The aircraft was equipped with state of the art IFE on board but the catch is you have to pay incase you want to watch any channel on it , the only thing that works on it for free is the map that shows the route to destination. The charges for movie channels were cheap and it indeed is a nicething to have an IFE even if you have to pay on a budget carrier because most of the LCC's don't equip one though.

The total duration of the flight is about 6 hrs and 30 mins to Bangkok from Dubai. The on-board serving commenced soon after takeoff.
I was pretty much expecting a sandwich to be served being an LCC and hence i was carrying chips and cookies for the journey. The cabin crews served a snack box to each passenger which was indeed a welcome addition on a low cost carrier. The serving took a long time and i guess it was purposely done to spread the serving on a medium haul flight.

The snack box served contained chocolates, wafers, biscuits, cookies, energy bars and more.
Once the serving was completed the cabin lights were dimmed and most passengers began to recline the seats for a good sleep. The flight was almost full except for couple of empty seats.
The washrooms were pretty much clean initially but then hours later the story was different as stink began to seep through.
The cabin services were below par , the cabin crews were rather unwilling to help you or happy to assist you. It took about 15 minutes for a cabin crew member to turn up with water for me and few times the crew seemed to be slightly rude while assisting passengers.
Landing:
7 hours later the pilot announced the decend to Suvarnabhumi International Airport and minutes later we touched down right on time.
The aircraft soon taxied into gates and the journey from Dubai aboard the flydubai came to an end.
Hi
welcome on FR
I am surprised that even the IFE is not for free with FZ
Otherwise the rest seems ok
Hello :)
Thank you ,
Yes FZ charges a nominal fee for watching movies onboard..but its a good addition to else so regular flying experience on an LCC.
Cheers!
You mostly get free movies on flights flying to the Middle East or maybe free only for Business Class. I flew from Kuwait to Dubai in Business and it was absolutely complimentary ;)
Yes it happens to be free on business class though.
