Hello Everyone!
Last time we left off ,I flew to DFW to start a new chapter of my life in Texas.
This flight was taken during the holidays to visit my family in the New York area.
DFW-LGA (here)
LGA-DFW (coming soon)
This was also my first flight on Spirit. I heard the reviews about them but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. Flying into the NYC area is never cheap, especially during the holidays. Spirit was the cheapest option. Total Price was $698 for two people, including the $42 bag fee, the $32 seat assignment fee, and taxes. Steal!
We arrived at DFW and checked in. Apparently Spirit is a 40lb carrier, so we had to rearrange
some stuff. Security was pretty quick and we were airside. I got to the gate and was ready to go!

N521NK would take us to New York today.

Spirit has not updated their entire fleet yet, but we got the nicer old livery with the nice seats. They were very comfortable.

The view from my seat at DFW

We took off uneventfully.
Cruising!

Seat pitch was suprisingly ok! I'm 5' 7' so I didn't feel the "knee crunching" pitch that others feel.
Flight attendanst went around and asked if anyone wanted to purchase a drink or a snack. Spirit's BOB menu and seatback pockets. Yes, water is $3.

The famous bare fare Statement.

Gotta love those Airbus Winglets!

Tray table was clean.

After takeoff, i turned off airplane mode and was able to get a bar of cell service. I then opened Google Maps, and found my location! Moving Maps on A Budget…..

Cabin just before arrival. Flight attendants went around handing out applications for the Spirit Airlines Master Card with an additional 25 thousand miles.

Over my (former) home state of New Jersey.

And we landed without any incident.
Hi, Drewj21 !!
Thanks for this report. Spirit reminds me of what the only LCC in my country (Sky Airline) is going to turn into. :( Starting next year, we'll be charged for everything, even for choosing a standard seat.
I can't believe that water is more expensive than coffee!! :O
Thanks for sharing! ^^
Hi Nelson!
A lot of airlines, even the legacy carriers are switching to the no frills model. And yes, I'm very surprised that coffee costs more than water!
*less
Thanks for sharing this FR with us! :)
It seems as Spirit is quite a good deal based on my experience of european LCC's (like Ryanair). The prices for catering are also quite similar.
Looking forward to your next FR :)
Hi Marvin!
Yes it is a good deal! However I'm not too sure about that on my return FR, which is coming soon!
Enjoyed reading this, given me an idea what to expect when I do this flight in May 2018.
How would you compare them to AA or DL?
