I went on a day trip to Berlin with British Airways at the end of September 2016.
BA was doing a sale and I checked for some locations and Berlin was offered cheapest in Europe for £85 return.
I checked up Berlin and the airport BA flew to in Berlin, which was Tegel, TXL, had a viewing deck, and with a Hard Rock and a Museum with an impressive aviation collection- I thought I'd check it out.
After getting to London Heathrow just before 6am, I went airside and had a cup of tea while watching the sun rise and awaiting for my gate number.

Checking flight radar, I found my Airbus A320 for the morning was G-EUUA, the first Airbus A320 delivered to BA when they did their fleet update in the late 1990s, this air-frame was delivered in 2003.
The Airbus was fitted out in the new BA Interior which featured black & white seats with mood lighting. Replacing the blue seats I sat in on my 2014 BA 737 flight.

The plane loaded up all its pax promptly. I think there must have been a good 120 people on board this flight. The flight was not very full at the back of the aircraft.
We departed LHR around 7:30am, and climbed out across England and over the North Sea.

Breakfast was provided, a ham & cream cheese croissant with a tomato relish and a choice of Tea or Coffee alongside an orange juice.

While flying along, we over-took another aircraft flying bellow us.

We arrived at Berlin Tegel a few minutes ahead of schedule. The view into the airport flying across Berlin was quite scenic.

Disembarking was uneventful and getting through passport control was pretty standard.

I visited the Viewing Deck first off to get some of the Berlin traffic I wouldn't see at London.

I didn't spend the whole day at TXL, I jumped around Berlin to visit the local Hard Rock Cafe and a surprise visit to a 24/7 Christmas shop!!!

I also managed to find and visit the German Museum of Technology as I was interested in checking out their Aviation Collection which held some interesting bits of
German Aviation heritage from the 1920s until the 1960s…

Thanks for sharing this great FR :)
Very nice photos of TXL ( like those 3 jets in one photo).
Is this kind of catering offered only in the morning hours or is it normal on TXL flights of BA? I went from FRA to LHR in October (BA903 departing at 10:55) and they only offered a small packet of crisps/biscuits and one drink.
I guess so, pre 10am flights my guess. Won't last long though. BA is stopping free food/drink for buy on board Marks & Spencer products after January 11th
